Sorceries in Elden Ring are some of the most fun and aesthetic ways of fighting your enemies… But there are some sorceries that completely beat the others.

There are a variety of sorceries found throughout Elden Ring. FromSoftware split the sorceries into various categories, allowing players to experiment and make some incredible builds utilising almost every spell found within the game.

Here are the 10 best sorceries found in Elden Ring:

10. Carian Slicer

We start off the list with Carian Slicer, one of the best early game spells a spellblade could utilise.

Not only does the magical blade do decent damage, it can also be cast quickly, allowing players to very speedily eat away at chunks of massive health pools. Unfortunately, it does not do much stagger damage, meaning players will need to time their usage of the fantastic spell to ensure they don’t get hit mid-swing.

Players who wish to use Carian Slicer must find the Royal House Scroll south of Limgrave and give it to Sellen.

9. Comet

Comet is an expensive spell that does a great deal of damage. While it may not be 100% cost-effective in terms of FP cost, the spell makes up for it in explosive damage. This will not be the spell you rely on throughout the whole game, but it is the one that, if an enemy is giving you trouble, you burn all of your FP with this spell and do significant damage.

Players who want access to this spell can find it behind a hidden wall inside Raya Lucaria Academy.

8. Scholar’s Armament

This spell is so useful.

It has a low FP cost, boosts weapon damage, and makes your weapon look incredibly cool. Scholar’s Armament is the bread and butter spellblade build, enhancing your sword so that it can do significant damage against enemies, cutting away swathes of health whilst you constantly enhance your weapon.

Can be purchased from Sellen in the Limgrave: Waypoint Ruins.

7. Carian Greatsword

Carian Greatsword is the crowd killer of Glintblade sorceries. The Greatsword appears in your hand and swings in a huge arc that does significant damage. It can be rather slow, but on average, the swing is worth it for the damage and stagger it can do.

Carian Greatsword can be purchased from Miriel, Pastor of Vows, at the Church of Vows in Liurnia of the Lakes.

6. Loretta’s Greatbow

Loretta’s Greatbow is a fantastic spell. Huge range, massive damage, and one of the best-looking spells in all of Elden Ring, Loretta’s Greatbow belongs in the arsenal of all sorcery users.

Retrieved from the Royal Knight Loretta at Caria Manor, Loretta’s Greatbow is such a great spell that finds itself useful in so many situations, it would have been impossible and a lie not to include this spell in the list somewhere.

5. Glintstone Pebble

People may be questioning why Glintstone Pebble, a starting game spell, is the midway point of this list. Simple. It is your old reliable. If you want to rely on a spell in Elden Ring, players can almost do no better than Glintstone Pebble. Good range, good damage, a fast casting time, and very low FP cost. Glintstone Pebble is an unbelievable spell that has and will continue to carry players throughout the entirety of Elden Ring.

This spell is one of the starting spells for an astrologer. However, if you still do not have it, players should go to either Sellen in Limgrave: Waypoint Ruins or Thops at the Church of Irith on the cliffs directly after Stormveil Castle.

4. Rock Sling

Rock Sling is one of the more unique spells in Elden Ring. This spell is a mage-saver. Why?

Well, to put it simply, when players are faced with enemies that are resistant to magic damage. Rock Sling is the spell you will need. An intelligence scaling physical damage dealer that eats away enemy health, and if I’m honest, it looks really cool.

3. Terra Magica

Terra Magica is the mage’s spell.

A spell that creates a zone that boosts magic damage is quite literally universally useful for all mages throughout the entirety of Elden Ring. The zone size is oddly surprising, and it is cheap to cast, it provides a huge buff of 35% to your magic damage, and is an all-around fantastic spell. Plus, this buffs every magic damage-based spell in the game. It is an imperative part of every single caster’s arsenal. Beware, it has a long casting time, so if you want to cast it for a boss fight, do it close to the boss gate, and the zone should go through the boss gate, at least for the first couple of steps.

Players can find Terra Magica in the Raya Lucaria Academy, specifically the Academy Crystal Cave.

2. Greatblade Phalanx

Greatblade Phalanx is a spell that just stands out from many. A lower cost, with high damage, Greatblade Phalanx is such a fantastic spell that is useful against so many enemies, it would be remiss for me to not include this in the list for one of the best spells in the game.

The reason this spell is so good is its stagger damage. The amount of stagger that players can get from this spell is ludicrous, either opening enemies up to another spell barrage or allowing the spellblades to get a massive critical hit. Greatblade Phalanx is a fantastic.

Players can get access to Greatblade Phalanx by defeating Bols, the Carian Knight, at the Cuckoo Evergaol in the southwest of Liurnia of the Lakes.

1. Comet Azur

Arguably the best of the Legendary spells, incantations, and more throughout the entire game. Few things can match Comet Azur’s potent damage. Now the spell itself is expensive, which is undoubtedly its biggest drawback. But that still doesn’t mean that this spell is poor. Far from it, with the right timing and even some buffs, this spell is ferocious.

One of the highest damaging spells, Comet Azur decimates anything before it with massive damage. Players who want access to this spell will have to find the crystal body of Azur, which is located in the labyrinth of Mount Gelmir.

Players who really want to get the most out of this spell should travel to the Minor Erdtree near the Volcano manor and deal with the Ulcerated Tree Spirit there. Upon defeating the tree spirit, you will get the Cerulean Hidden Tear. Add this to your wondrous physick, and Comet Azur (And every other spell in Elden Ring) will get a huge bonus of not costing any FP whatsoever, leading to you becoming a barrage of magical carnage and destruction.
