World of Warcraft is a massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that was initially released by Blizzard in November of 2004. Eighteen years and 9 expansions later, the game still has a large following with an estimated 8 million players in 2022. The eighth WoW expansion released in 2020, Shadowlands, garnered more pre-sales than any other World of Warcraft expansion.

What Is WoW Character Boosting?Purchasing a WoW Character Boost from BlizzardWoW Character Boosting by Third-Party Services

There is plenty to do in World of Warcraft, and the game is quite competitive. One of the goals of many players is to level up their WoW character, which provides access to more content, better equipment, and makes the character more powerful. Leveling up a WoW character can be difficult and time-consuming, with some players opting to pay for a character boost.

The WoW boost price can vary depending on the service you use.

What Is WoW Character Boosting?

WoW character boosting is when a player pays a fee to increase the level of their World of Warcraft character. There are 2 basic ways to pay to boost your WoW character:

  • Purchase a character boost from Blizzard in the WoW in-game shop
  • Buy a character boost from a third-party boosting service

Purchasing a WoW Character Boost from Blizzard

Players who purchase the Heroic or Epic versions of the WoW: Shadowlands expansion get one free character boost to level 50 with their purchase. Those who purchase the Heroic or Epic version of the WoW: Dragonflight expansion are entitled to one free character boost to level 60. Characters don’t have to be at level 1 to use the boost. Boosts can be used on characters of any level. Aside from the one free character boost that comes with purchasing a Dragonflight or Shadowlands expansion, additional boosts can be purchased from Blizzard in the in-game shop.

  • Shadowlands: Players can buy a character boost to level 60 in the in-game shop. The cost of the character boost is $60. You may purchase a boost for any of your characters. In addition to the level boost, the character gets Item Level 148 gear and 3 weapons, 510 gold, four 22-slot bags, 5 health and mana potions, 20x food that replenishes mana and health, 10 Tomes to change talents, and 280% flying
  • Dragonflight: In the WoW: Dragonflight expansion, you can also purchase a character boost to level 60 in the in-game shop. The boosted character receives the same equipment and items as in Shadowlands.
  • WoW Classic – The Burning Crusade: Players can get a character boost to level 58 in the Burning Crusade by purchasing a Dark Portal Pass for $39.99. In addition, the character receives weapon skills up to level 58, Apprentice Riding skill. access to certain flight paths, a race-specific mount, four 12-slot sacks, a set of level 58 magic (green) quality gear, and 25 gold. Accounts are limited to 1 Dark Portal Pass, which means you can only get 1 character boost. No other character boosts are available for purchase.

It will take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours for a boost to go into effect depending on how busy the servers are.

WoW Character Boosting by Third-Party Services

First off, it should be noted that using third-party boosting services to boost your character violates Blizzard’s Terms and Conditions and could result in a player having their account terminated. Boosting services offer more flexibility when it comes to leveling up a player’s WoW character. Players can customize their character boosting order as well as request specific weapons and equipment.

There are plenty of boosting services for players to choose from, and the rates can vary considerably depending on both the particular boost and the individual service, unlike Blizzard, which has fixed prices for their boosting options. However, a character boost to level 60 from a good boosting service will generally be considerably less than that charged by Blizzard. Some boosting services also offer discounts to repeat users.

When purchasing a boost from Blizzard, it is implemented automatically. Leveling up a character using a boosting service works a little differently and may be done in 1 of 2 different ways.

  • Piloted Boost: With a piloted boost, a skilled and experienced booster will log into your account using your username and password. The booster plays your character until they reach the desired level and/or achieve any other in-game goals specified in your order.
  • Self-play Boost: You log in and play your character while the booster joins your group and uses their advanced skills and abilities to help you reach the level you want and achieve any other in-game goals.

Although leveling up your character may cost less using a third-party boosting service, there are some disadvantages.

  • Violates Blizzard’s Terms and Conditions: There is a risk of a player’s WoW account being terminated, although a good boosting service will use a VPN to protect their customer’s account
  • Not All Boosting Services Deliver What They Promise: There are a lot of boosting services available for players to choose from, but they don’t all provide the same level of service

If you choose to use a third-party boosting service,e do some research to ensure they are reputable and take steps to protect player accounts.
