Here's a quick guide on the best beginner heroes in Marvel Rivals.
In Marvel Rivals, every hero has different abilities, different ways to move around, and different roles on a team, so it can be overwhelming when first launching the game. It's tempting to pick your favorite Marvel character, but some heroes are much easier to learn than others. Good beginner heroes help you learn what it is you're supposed to be doing in the game, how to work with your team, and how to fight without being overwhelmed by challenging mechanics.
The Punisher
The Punisher is one of the easiest Duelists to learn. His weapons serve up consistent damage at close to mid-range, and it’s easy to dispatch enemies without fancy combos. His abilities are simple, so you can concentrate on aiming and positioning, rather than managing a complicated cooldown rotation. If you've played other hero shooters, The Punisher is a great place to start.
Rocket Raccoon
Rocket Raccoon is a forgiving Strategist for players who like to support teammates. He can heal allies from a safe distance, while also dealing decent damage. Because of his mobility, he can get out of dangerous situations, so mistakes are less punishing. Learning Rocket helps you to understand the importance of healing and staying with your team.

Venom
Venom is one of the most beginner-friendly of the Vanguards. His large health pool lets him survive fights that would kill more fragile heroes quickly. Venom is a very easy to use hero, allowing him to attack enemy teams, break up their formation and make space for his allies. While you should still avoid fighting alone, his durability allows new players to learn more freely.
Scarlet Witch
Beginners also choose Scarlet Witch. Her primary attack doesn’t need to be pinpointed, so you can learn movement and positioning and still dish out consistent damage. She also has powerful abilities to pressure groups of enemies, which lets new players contribute even if they don't have perfect mechanical skills.
Mantis
Mantis is perfect for players who like to support their team. She offers reliable healing and useful buffs, and is relatively simple to play. Remaining behind your frontline and keeping your teammates alive builds good habits that translate across every match.

Whatever hero you pick, remember that Marvel Rivals is very much a team game. Don't go for single eliminations, stick with your teammates. Use cover whenever you can, retreat when your health is low, and don’t waste your ultimate ability on a single enemy unless it secures an important objective.
It is also worth spending a few matches with heroes from different roles. Playing a Vanguard teaches you about positioning, playing a Duelist improves your aim and target priority, playing a Strategist teaches you how supports affect every fight. And even if you specialize in one role down the line, this experience will make you a better all-around player.
The best hero starting off is the one you’re most comfortable playing. Start with simple characters like The Punisher, Venom, Rocket Raccoon, Scarlet Witch or Mantis, and focus on learning the fundamentals of the game and you’ll develop the skills needed to succeed with any hero in Marvel Rivals.
