Here's a quick guide on how to counter every role in Marvel Rivals.
One of the quickest ways to get better at Marvel Rivals is learning how to counter each role. Every team is based around Vanguards, Duelists and Strategists, and knowing how to counter each one can give your team a major advantage. Not just getting the kills, but learning how to disrupt the enemy’s game plan.
Countering Duelists
Duelists are damage dealers and elimination machines. They use mobility, aggressive positioning and bursts of damage to overwhelm their opponents.
To fight Duelists, stay in good position and don’t stray away from your team. Duelists do better when they can isolate targets. Stay close to your allies and use crowd control or defensive skills when they dive into the backline. Focus-fire works especially well since many Duelists have less durability than Vanguards
Countering Vanguards
Tanks in Marvel Rivals are known as Vanguards. They take hits. They create room. They guard their teammates. A common mistake many beginners make is to focus all their firepower on a tank while the enemy damage dealers and supports are free to operate.
The best way to counter Vanguards is to attack from multiple angles, and attack teammates whenever you can. Use mobility to avoid predictable attacks and don’t waste valuable abilities trying to force through heavy defenses. But punish a tank that pushes too far ahead of their team before support arrives.

Countering Strategists
Strategists provide healing, buffs and utility that keep their team alive. Enemy tanks can feel impossible to kill with a protected Strategist, and Duelists can stay aggressive longer.
The best way to deal with Strategists is to put them under pressure whenever the chances arise. Flanking heroes can make supports move or stop healing their teammates. Even if you don’t outright eliminate them, disrupting their healing often weakens the entire enemy team.
Use the Environment
Maps offer natural cover and can impair the effectiveness of every role. Use walls, corners and obstacles to break enemy sightlines and avoid taking unnecessary damage. Good positioning makes it more difficult for Duelists to burst you down and reduces the effect of enemy supports.

Track Core Abilities
All roles are less threatening after key cooldowns. Be wary of defensive skills, mobility abilities, and healing tools. Once these resources are out of the way, it is much easier to get eliminations or win objectives.
In-Game Adjustments
There is no counter-strategy that works in every situation. If a particular enemy hero is running away with the game, try changing heroes or adjusting your playstyle. Repeatedly trying to force the same strategy is often less valuable than flexibility.
Concluding Remarks
Understanding how to counter all roles is about understanding what matters most. Pressure Strategists, control hot-headed Duelists and don’t waste resources on heavily shielded Vanguards. These habits, and strong teamwork and communication, will help you win more fights and improve your results in Marvel Rivals.
