When it comes to the most searched games, Hogwarts Legacy is far and away in the lead, with over a million queries per month on average.

Recent research analyzed a complete list of video games that are scheduled to be released this year to determine which ones are the most anticipated since they are the ones that have received the most online searches.

The number one spot on most hyped games’ list goes to Hogwarts Legacy, scheduled to be launched on February 10 and has an average of 1,230,000 searches every month. Since the game’s announcement in early 2022 for all platforms, fans have been anticipating what has been promised as the most technically sophisticated third-person role-playing game ever set in the most renowned wizardry school in the world.

Coming in at number two on the list is Starfield, which receives an average of 540,000 searches each month. The release of the action role-playing video game is scheduled to take place sometime during the first half of 2023; however, no exact date has been disclosed as of yet. While playing the game, the player will have the option of exploring The Settled Systems, a region located around 50 light years distant from our own Solar System, in either the first or third-person perspective. In addition, the player will be able to personalize their character.

Cocoon ranks third with an average of 356,000 searches each month moving it into third place. Although no specific release date has been given for the new science fiction puzzle-adventure game, which was initially revealed in June 2022, it is expected to be out sometime in the following 12 months. Aside from the brief gameplay demonstrations that were shown at the Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, there is not much known about the game at this time.

Diablo IV, located farther down the list, comes in at number four by a hair’s breadth, with an average of 354,000 searches every month. With a release date planned for June 2023 and a teaser trailer debuting in 2019, fans across the globe have been counting down the years until the next installment in the tale finally arrives on screen.

Most Searched Games of 2023, Diablo IV

The much-anticipated remake to the first-person shooter game Dead Space, which came out in 2008, takes the fifth and final spot on our list, with an average monthly search volume of 287,000.

Below are the 10 Most Searched Games of 2023 so far:

SNMost Searched GamesSearches
1Hogwarts Legacy1,230,000
2Starfield540,000
3Cocoon356,000
4Diablo IV354,000
5Dead Space Remake287,000
6Nightingale264,000
7Blanc251,000
8Sons of the Forest224,000
9Dordogne208,000
10Forspoken192,000

The numbers demonstrate a correlation between fan interest in a property and excitement for its next installment, although this is by no means universal.

In reality, even though number one on the list is Hogwarts Legacy, which rides off the fame of the Harry Potter brand, others on the list, such as Starfield and Cocoon, are significantly more independent releases that to this day have not even had much information given about them or even a release date. On the other hand, we are very twitchy to get our hands on them, and the level of anticipation is at an all-time high.
