Here's how to cook food using the Kitchen in Stardew Valley.
Cooking is one of the more useful systems to get familiar with early on in Stardew Valley, since prepared meals give buffs that raw ingredients simply don't offer.
Getting set up takes a bit of prep work though, since you'll need both a Kitchen and a collection of unlocked recipes before you can start putting meals together. Here's everything you need to get cooking going in Stardew Valley.

Unlocking the Kitchen
A Kitchen becomes available once you upgrade your house for the first time. Robin at the Carpenter's Shop handles the upgrade for some gold and wood, and once it's finished, the Kitchen appears in your house automatically, no separate unlock needed in Stardew Valley.
Getting Recipes
There are a few ways to pick up new recipes. The Queen of Sauce airs on your TV depending on the day and season, and watching an episode teaches you whatever recipe she covers that day.
Building up hearts with villagers can also unlock recipes, as can leveling up your skills. Each skill grants different recipes at certain levels, so leveling up Fishing or Mining, for example, will net you recipes tied to those skills specifically.

Using the Kitchen
Inside the Kitchen, you'll find a Fridge that works just like a regular chest in Stardew Valley - anything you store there is available for cooking. Once you've got ingredients in either your inventory or the Fridge, walk up to the stove and open it to see all your unlocked recipes. Any recipe you have the ingredients for will show up in color, meaning it's ready to cook.
You don't need ingredients in your actual inventory - having them stored in the Fridge is enough, since the stove automatically pulls what it needs from there when you cook. Keep in mind that cooking uses up whatever ingredients get pulled, so a stack of 50 Green Beans, for example, will start dropping the more you cook with it.
Getting into a regular habit of cooking is one of the more rewarding routines in Stardew Valley once ingredients start piling up from farming and foraging.
