Here’s how to pick and set up Elwood, Brayleigh or Morse in the Echoes of Central Park DLC for The Division 2.
Echoes of Central Park adds three companions who fight beside you and can revive you. In The Division 2, Elwood is the safest pick for most players. Brayleigh adds the most damage, and Morse works best against tight groups.
How Companions Work in The Division 2
You can pick Brayleigh Callahan (Sniper), Elwood Franklin (Protector) or Morse Feeney (Assault). Choose one at the Tower Settlement, your base in Central Park, and swap whenever you're out of combat.
Each companion has a signature ability that you aim at a target, bound to X on PC. The ability levels up as you progress through the story.

Every companion can revive you when you go down. That frees the slot your Reviver Hive used, so you can run a damage skill like the Leech Hive instead.
Unlock and Equip Companion Talents
Each companion has four talents. You unlock them by playing with that companion through a main mission, a control point, and a Cleaner or Black Tusk activity. The last one comes from the companion's own world mission.
The Division 2 doesn't turn talents on for you. Go back to the Tower and equip up to three of the four, or you get none of their bonuses.

Elwood: Best Companion for Solo Play in The Division 2
Elwood drops a Support Station that repairs 15% of your armor over 15 seconds while you stand in it. Higher levels reportedly add a larger radius and stronger healing. At level 3, it also cleanses status effects.
Inside the station, Safe Zone gives you 35% damage reduction and stagger immunity. Rally Point reloads your weapon the moment he drops the station and adds 60% reload speed for 10 seconds.
Zone Control gives 15% bonus armor for each kill within 10 meters of Elwood, stacking five times. He follows you around, so the stacks stay up in most fights. You can then run bonus armor talents like Intimidate without Adrenaline Rush or Bloodsucker.

Second Wind gives you 50% damage and 20% movement speed for 10 seconds after he revives you. Once per fight, he can also get back up on his own. In The Division 2, that lets solo players push harder, since a knock turns into a damage buff.
Brayleigh: Best Damage Companion in The Division 2
Brayleigh switches to a TAC-50 for Deadeye, a single shot worth 190% weapon damage at level 1. At level 2, it reportedly deals 350% and disrupts enemies around the target. In one test on Normal difficulty, one shot dropped elites and even enemy leaders.
Her headset marks a target that takes 20% more damage from all sources. Focus Fire blinds that marked target for 4 seconds. With Tech Salvage, your skill cooldowns drop 25% whenever she destroys a drone, robot or deployable.

Deadeye Protocol boosts your first headshot within 8 seconds of a Deadeye shot by 70% and refunds 20% of your magazine. Synchronized Kill gives you 20% damage on your next target after you kill her marked enemy.
Watch for the red marker and shoot what she shoots to keep Synchronized Kill running. In one test, a sniper build went from about 24 million to 28 million damage with the buff.
Morse: Best Against Grouped Enemies
Morse fires a grenade launcher. His Breach Shot airburst staggers enemies within 3 meters and applies Shred (a debuff his talents build on), slowing them for 12 seconds. At level 2, he fires two rounds, the radius grows to 4 meters, and shredded enemies become confused.
Breach Window makes shredded enemies take 35% more damage from all sources. Suppression gives you 25% weapon damage while you shoot his target.

After his explosion hits, Shrapnel makes your next 10 shots apply bleed, and you deal 15% more to bleeding targets. Follow Through cuts your skill cooldowns by 15% and refunds a grenade when you kill a shredded enemy.
In practice, Breach Shot reportedly takes a while to fire and often misses moving enemies. Once he locks a target, you can't redirect it, and the cooldown runs about 22 seconds. Save him for packed groups at the start of a wave.
What to Do Next
Head to the Tower and equip three talents on your companion before you judge it. Start with Elwood if you play solo or want a safe pick for any build. Switch to Brayleigh for sniper builds in The Division 2, and follow her marked targets. All three companions also join you in endgame activities such as The Hunt.
Equip three talents at the Tower, then take Elwood for survival or Brayleigh for damage.
FAQ
Q. Which companion is best for solo play in The Division 2?
A. Elwood suits solo players best. He heals you, adds bonus armor on kills, and buffs your damage after a revive.
Q. How many companion talents can you equip?
A. Each companion lets you equip three of its four talents at the Tower. Any talent you leave unequipped gives no bonus.
Q. Can companions revive you in The Division 2?
A. All three can pick you up when you're downed. That lets you swap your Reviver Hive for a damage skill.
Q. Why does Morse miss so often?
A. His Breach Shot is slow to fire, so moving enemies often get out of the blast. Use him on groups that are standing still.
