With the likes of Black Widow, Iron Man, and Captain America now out of the film series, Thor has become one of the key stars that glues the various entries of the cinematic universe together.
The studio has various games planned for the next few years, so there’s a strong chance that a Thor title will be released. It may hinge on how successful the company’s next releases are.
Thor, One of the Most Popular MCU Characters
In 2021, rumors were circulating that a new Thor video game was in the making. Daniel Richtman reported that he had inside knowledge of the title, with the industry expert usually reliable. Nothing has come to fruition yet. It would certainly make sense for Marvel Games to explore the character further, as he is one of the top draws of the MCU.
Thor’s impact on popular culture in the years since his first appearance in 2011 has been astounding. It could be argued that his appearance in the MCU led to the resurgence of Norse mythology in the mainstream, with offerings like Vikings on the History Channel enjoying great success. Countless games are based on Vikings and their gods, regarded as some of the best titles ever.
For example, God of War in 2018 and its sequel, God of War Ragnarök in 2022, were critical and commercial sensations. Other titles, such as Vikings: War of Clans on mobile, have attracted millions of players. Norse themes have become a huge draw for players in the online casino industry.
Marvel Games Has Plans for Numerous Titles
The 2020s have ushered in an exciting new era for Marvel video games, with some of the best titles to date. These included Marvel’s Avengers, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in 2020, and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in 2021.
