Here's a Wuthering Waves guide on how to manage your materials efficiently.
One of the best ways to make steady progress in Wuthering Waves is to manage your materials efficiently. Upgrade resources are limited, especially early and mid-game, so you’ll want to use them wisely, as they’ll help you build stronger Resonators without slowing your overall progression.
Focus on Your Core Team
One of the biggest mistakes players make is upgrading every new Resonator that they get. Instead, invest your resources into one team with a main damage dealer, a sub-DPS and support. This allows you to clear the more difficult content easier, and unlock better farming opportunities before you invest in more characters.
Use Waveplates Wisely
Your main source for upgrade materials are waveplates, which regenerate over time. Do not allow them to be filled to capacity, which is a waste of potential resources. Instead of stockpiling items you may not use for a long time, try to farm the materials you need right now, like Resonator ascension items, weapon materials, skill materials, or Echo upgrades.

Improve Weapons Before Extras
A weapon gives a character a huge performance boost. Upgrading the weapons of the main team usually yields better results than spreading resources to several underused weapons. Direct your attention to the gear your starting XI wears most frequently.
Be Selective with Echo Upgrades
The more you progress the more valuable Echo EXP materials and Tuners become. Upgrade Echoes only in the right Sonata set and with the right main stats for your character. When an Echo rolls a few weak substats, it is usually best to stop investing and save your materials for a stronger replacement.
Only Farm What You Need
It can be tempting to collect every available material but that often wastes valuable Waveplates. Build your farm around what you're working on at the moment, whether it's getting a character leveled up, upgrading a weapon, or training skills. Targeted farming means you progress efficiently and don’t run out of resources unnecessarily.

Premium Resources Save
Use rare items sparingly. Before you spend any of your rare upgrade materials or premium currency, make sure you’re investing in characters and equipment you plan to use for the long haul. This prevents needless waste when stronger alternatives come along.
Get Set For New Characters
If you’re building up for a future Resonator, start to farm their ascension and skill materials before you get them. By preparing ahead of time, you can immediately enjoy playing your new character rather than spending days farming after they are released.
