A new trailer shows off more gameplay.

Amnesia: Rebirth, the most recent game from Swedish studio Frictional Games, will be delivered on October 20. Resurrection is a spin-off of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, which was delivered 10 years prior this month. Preorders are open now, and the game will sell on GOG, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Sony PlayStation 4.

Amnesia: Rebirth is the follow-up to Frictional’s fundamental frightfulness exertion, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a game that commends its 10th commemoration this year (2013’s Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs was created by Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture studio The Chinese Room). Everything changes this time, however, and Rebirth follows the hardships of new hero Tasi Trianon as she travels over the Algerian desert arranging the sections of her broken past.

There’s an investigation to be done, riddles to be fathomed, and restricted mental and physical assets to be overseen, with Frictional promising a dive through an assortment of “uncanny situations, from burned deserts and dull caverns to overlooked destroys and outsider scenes.” Frictional’s creative director Thomas Grip says that rather than delivering “just another haunted house spook-fest”, Rebirth sets players on an “emotionally harrowing journey” with a much greater focus on narrative than previous entries in the series.

Amnesia: Rebirth – which has a tough act to follow after Frictional’s exceptional deep-sea horror SOMA – has remained rather enigmatic since its initial reveal; however, there’s a little more to be gleaned from its new release date trailer, which should tide you over until its 20th October arrival on PC (via Steam, GOG, and Epic) and PlayStation 4.
