The John Wick spinoff, Ballerina, opened last week and failed to win the weekend box office.
For the third weekend in a row in North America, Lilo & Stitch has claimed the number one spot at the box office. Not even the John Wick spinoff, Ballerina, could overthrow it. The Ballerina film opened in second place with a 25 million opening in North America. If this were John Wick 5 and not a spinoff, I believe that it would’ve won the box office weekend.
Lilo & Stitch is also a massive property, and this remake has been talked about for a very long time. Disney has had a lot riding on this, as Snow White did poorly earlier this year. Disney probably put a lot of effort into the marketing of this film to help it. They needed to make a lot of money since they had such a bomb this year.
I was hoping to see Ballerina do better for its opening weekend. The theater is packed right now with plenty of movies to pick from. You have Lilo & Stitch, the new John Wick spinoff Ballerina, the final Mission: Impossible film, and the new Final Destination film. A lot of new sequels, remakes, and other popular IPs are in theaters right now.

The office will continue to heat up with a new Jurassic World film coming out. Lilo & Stitch will need to raise as much money as possible because when Jurassic World: Reborn is released, it is expected to dominate the box office, just like every Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movie has. Lilo & Stitch is currently at an estimated 772 million at the box office.
The John Wick spinoff, Ballerina, will be lucky to hit 300 million. A lot of people don’t know this, but this is not the first John Wick spinoff that we have seen. There was a television show a couple of years ago that absolutely no one talks about. So if this film doesn’t do very well at the box office, we might not see a lot more from the John Wick universe. However, there are definite plans for more, just not as massive as they would’ve hoped.
