Battlefield Will Get a Brand New ‘Narrative Campaign’ from the Co-Creator of Halo’s New Studio

Mike Lehto and his newly named studio, Ridgeline Games, will be working on the next Battlefield and its campaign.

Battlefield is a series that has seemed to have lost its luster with many fans. The once incredibly popular game series fizzled out following the disastrous release of Battlefield 2042, which had players petitioning to get refunds for the game because of how poorly it was released. Of course, the game still maintained support to some degree, but it has still stained the series.

However, despite all of this, EA is still ‘All In On Battlefield’ following this new official post on their website. As the series’ 20th Anniversary is approaching, EA is undoubtedly wishing to cement the fact that the popular game series is not dead.

The post covers various aspects of the series’ future, with the most important aspect being the announcement of Marcus Lehto, Co-Creator of Halo’s new company, Ridgeline Games, and that “Marcus will bring his long legacy of creating fascinating worlds and gripping narratives to Battlefield.”

However, it seems that EA is maintaining the ‘global’ studio approach with both DICE and Ripple Effect, both working on Battlefield. DICE brings its “expertise to continue developing Battlefield’s one-of-a-kind multiplayer suite.” Meanwhile, Ripple Effect “is focused on creating an entirely new experience that will complement and build upon the series’ foundations.”

Now, of course, we don’t entirely know what that means and may learn more around the time of the official 20th anniversary. I can say wholeheartedly that it is good that despite the backlash on the previous title, this series is still going to continue. Byron Beede said this in that very same official post: “Battlefield has been a staple of this industry, and as the industry shifts, we’re looking to expand the series into something even more extraordinary by embracing a global mindset and the vision of our leadership team.”

We shall await the future of this series with bated breath. Here at GamesCreed, we cover everything related to gaming. From the latest news to stellar reviews, GamesCreed has you covered.
