This is not a drill. SBMM is now gone from Black Ops 7’s beta.
Black Ops 7’s beta has been here for 2 days, and already, players have had enough. But why? SBMM of course. The matchmaking system that allegedly pairs you with players of similar skill levels. Which was fine at first. However, in recent times, especially in Black Ops 6, Call of Duty has cracked it up to a point where many players feel that the experience is insufferable.
And most of them have practically uninstalled the beta and are waiting for Call of Duty/Black Ops 7’s competitor, Battlefield 6, which was mostly met with positive feedback. For years, players have begged for SBMM to be removed or at least reduced. But it doesn’t seem like Call of Duty was listening.
The reason is that SBMM generates a significant amount of money for them. Look at the numbers. Their profits continue to increase. But for the expense of the players. SBMM is seemingly punishing players who are halfway decent at the game.
Ironically, with all of Call of Duty’s success, SBMM is arguably the biggest reason why it might eventually harm the franchise. And with more players leaving and going over to the other side (Battlefield 6), as well as the overwhelmingly negative feedback towards the beta, things might look dark for Call of Duty, let alone Black Ops 7.
But now, our prayers may have finally been answered. And no, this isn’t a drill. Call of Duty has confirmed that there’s now a mode where skill consideration is drastically reduced when being placed in lobbies: meaning, no SBMM.
If you’ve uninstalled Black Ops 7’s beta, you might want to get back in because there’s now a mode called Open Moshpit, where you’ll be placed with all players of all skill sets. That’s right, things are going back to the way it was in the old days.
This felt like a calling from God because that’s what people have been screaming for, for so long. More people might actually get Black Ops 7. Moreover, will have a much better time with Black Ops 7’s beta. We just hope that Call of Duty sticks to this and that this isn’t some ploy to get players back and then take it out again eventually. This is a massive W from Call of Duty.
