Sony continues reviving major IPs, yet Bloodborne remains untouched and technically outdated in 2026.
People who like FromSoftware games always wonder what their next one will be. You can almost always count on Bloodborne being remade or updated. It was a big deal when Bluepoint Games rebuilt Demon’s Souls from the ground up a few years ago.
It felt like a long time coming since it was a Sony IP that could only be played on PlayStation, and it turned out to be one of the best-selling PS5 games. That has seemed like a good fit for Bloodborne for a long time.
Bluepoint was known for making some of the best remakes.
Even so, things look even stranger now, in 2026. Bluepoint Studios was bought by Sony not long ago, but the company has since shut down, and there is still no Bloodborne version. A lot of people liked the remake of Demon’s Souls, and it did a good job of introducing the classic to new players.

Also, the company made a version of Shadow of the Colossus, which made Sony even more sure that they could bring old games up to date. For a long time, it was said that Bloodborne would be the next game, even though the company was quiet.
A lot of those stories came from people who knew people at PlayStation and often named Bluepoint as the most likely developer. The claims always seemed likely because they made sense. From a business perspective, Bloodborne appears to be the best choice.
As of now, you can only play the game on PlayStation consoles. It can be played on newer consoles, but it has never been fully updated to meet current standards. The same speed issues are still present as at the beginning.
The only new FromSoftware game that hasn’t gotten speed updates or releases on more systems is Bloodborne.
The other two are Dark Souls III and Sekiro. The game might need a remake or a complete makeover to really make it up-to-date and appeal to more people. It would be hard to use even a simple port. That’s why the lack is so strange.
Sony hasn’t been tough on many of its other big IPs. The Last of Us got remastered, God of War keeps getting new games and improved versions, Horizon Zero Dawn got remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man just came out.

But Bloodborne has not been changed. We don’t understand why this one term is different when we look at the past. Of course, people are curious about what changed between the remake of Demon’s Souls and the supposedly Bloodborne work.
Sony shut down Japan Studio. Together with FromSoftware, they worked on Bloodborne. Still not sure if that made a difference. Some people have also said that Sony and FromSoftware work together.
Hidetaka Miyazaki has said publicly that he would be open to remaking Bloodborne, but he has also made it clear he doesn’t want to. Some people, though, think Miyazaki might not want anyone else to work on the project and doesn’t have time to do it himself.
So, if Sony agrees with that point of view, it might explain why it wasn’t sure.
The bond between Sony and FromSoftware looks stronger than ever at the same time. Sony owns a lot of Kadokawa, the company that runs FromSoftware. This means the two businesses work very well together. It looks like Bloodborne could be brought back to life at this time.
Many people thought Bluepoint was the best place to do the job, but it’s now closed. Could someone else help? Virtuos worked on Dark Souls and other games that had already been updated. A lot of people also say nice things about Nightdive Studios’ work on fixing up old games.
But in real life, the odds don’t look good. As a tech company that had worked on Demon’s Souls before, Bluepoint was seen by many as a good fit. Some people think Bluepoint may have started making a new Bloodborne game more than once.

You should be wary of those claims, though, because they come from places that you can’t always trust. There is no way to know for sure whether a sample is on a hard drive. There may still be hope, but it may be in a long-term plan.
Some people think Sony might be holding off on releasing Bloodborne for a while or planning a remake that will sell a lot of PlayStation 6 copies.
It’s one of the few well-known games that haven’t been brought back or made available on PC when you look at the list of exclusives. The fact that it is a “lost child” could make it a good story one day. The dream isn’t clear to me right now.
The truth is that there is still no Bloodborne remake in 2026, no matter what we say about politics, business, or time. Sony and FromSoftware are the only ones who really know if the dream is dead or just asleep. There’s nothing you can do but wait for the hunt to begin again.
