Call Of Duty League Is Moving To Four-Player Teams Next Season

The Call of Duty League announced Monday that Season 2 of the CDL will be played in a four-on-four format instead of the five-on-five team structure of the inaugural season.

The 2020 Call of Duty League (CDL) season wrapped up at the end of the week, with Dallas Empire guaranteeing the title and $1.5 million in prize cash. In any case, one individual from that title crew could pass up a major opportunity one year from now. The association is moving from five-player groups to the great Call of Duty four versus four-configurations.

There were in every case probably going to be program moves during the offseason, yet the move implies groups should seat or drop one of their players. With fewer program spots accessible (except if CDL grows to incorporate more establishments), it’ll be more enthusiastically for hopeful stars to make it into the alliance. Honorable obligation esports based on four-player groups for a long time before the 2018-2019 World League season.

Without a doubt, the move denotes an “arrival to our underlying foundations,” CDL Commissioner Johanna Faries proposed in a declaration. “This choice was made in a close joint effort with our groups and players, and it was not made delicately.” The league will reveal more plans for 2021 — including details on maps, formats, and the schedule — during the offseason. There’ll also be a shift from Modern Warfare to the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

The All-Star Weekend happens from September 12 thirteenth, which could stamp the last time fans will see experts contend in five versus five matches at any point soon. The 2021 CDL year begins the next day.

Meanwhile, there’s a bit more CDL action on the way this year. Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
