Call of Duty’s next title, set in WWII, becomes 2017’s next title to reach Xbox and PC Game Pass. And it’ll arrive very soon.
World War II becomes the next past Call of Duty title to enter Xbox Game Pass. And if you had bought it very recently, send it back and get a refund. Alternatively, if you were considering getting it for nostalgia, reconsider, as 2017’s COD: WWII will be available on Xbox and PC Game Pass very soon. Since Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard a few years ago, it has acquired all rights to their games, which include Call of Duty and their iconic titles, meaning these games will be available on Xbox and PC Game Pass.
We’ve gotten a taste of this with 2023’s Modern Warfare III being the very first game to be on the service, after announcing that Black Ops 6 would be the first ever Call of Duty title to be a Day One release on Game Pass. This has met with mostly positive responses, mainly because they don’t have to pay full retail price to enjoy the game. However, what wasn’t met with mostly positive responses was, ironically enough, the news that WWII was coming to Xbox Game Pass. Particularly, because the game wasn’t very good for some players.
If you recall, WWII was met with mixed reviews, including the fact that its launch wasn’t great, and it required some patches to fix the game. Moreover, according to some, the content wasn’t up to standards. They felt that the campaign wasn’t good, the multiplayer was decent, and the zombies were possibly the worst version of a Call of Duty game ever. However, after a few months of the game’s release, it had improved significantly, especially in the multiplayer mode.
The content was better, and the weaponry and so on were more balanced. However, one undeniably great feature was the introduction of the Headquarters, which served as a hub where around 48 real players could interact with each other outside of matches. It’s a shame that we haven’t gotten that feature since. Another reason fans are unhappy is that they feel there are better titles that should have been released.
However, some, such as us, welcome the idea of WWII because we liked it. Now, the question you’re wondering is when exactly the game is arriving on Xbox and PC Game Pass. Well, you won’t have to wait very long, because it’s coming this Monday. June 30th, 2025, is when it comes to Game Pass, and for some of you, to get in touch with the nostalgia.
