Activision, the publisher of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, has confirmed that it will be adding a Gun Game mode in the next Season 2 update.
Activision has confirmed that for the Season 2 update, they will be adding the “Gun Game” mode into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 when the update launches on 15 February 2023. This is one of many features that the publisher has been teasing for the next season of the game.
In this new Gun Game mode, all players will start the match with a basic pistol and will have to kill other players if they want to find a better weapon. Players are tasked with cycling through all the different types of weapons. Gun Game was first revealed, thanks to a tweet posted by the official Call of Duty Twitter account, that was in response to a fan’s question.
This fun new game mode isn’t the only party-game feature being added to the game. Season 2 will see the return of the “Infected” game mode. Both Infected and Gun Game have appeared previously in past Call of Duty titles, and it seems like it’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s turn.
Along with these two game modes, Activision has announced that new maps will also be added to the game, as well as changes to the speed at which players unlock bonuses and ultimate perks. Many other game modes have been leaked online. According to these leaks, some of these new modes include past favorites such as “Gunplay” and new modes such as “Cranked” and “Plunder”. These rumored game modes are believed to be coming when Season 2 launches.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been criticized in the past for lacking content, but it seems that Season 2 plans on changing that. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
