Microsoft updates fans on Remedy Entertainment’s Crossfire X with a new campaign trailer for its latest Xbox Games Showcase.

Microsoft rewarded its Xbox One fans with details about the highly anticipated Crossfire X for its incumbent console. It also received a new campaign trailer. This trailer was one of the game’s first major reveals since the initial November 2019 announcement that South Korean developer Smilegate Entertainment was teaming up with Alan Wake creators Remedy Entertainment for Crossfire X’s new single-player campaign

The trailer proceeds to show off Torres’ combat capabilities through FPS gameplay. Crossfire X will center around the super-soldier Louis Torres as he faces off against the sinister military corporation Global Risk in an all-out war between private military collectives. Voice clips screaming and Brief interlaced cutscenes about “the ghost” also teased the protagonist’s stealth abilities. One scene also briefly introduced Blacklist.

The trailer confirmed that the game would be released this year for Xbox Series X and Xbox One as one of twenty-two console launch exclusives. Some criticized the disclaimer that Crossfire X’s “free-to-play” multiplayer campaign even though it required Xbox Live Gold to play it.

On the other side, Remedy Entertainment’s fans on Twitter expressed their excitement about seeing the developer’s first major project since Control in 2019. Because Crossfire began its life on PC, several PC fans also noted their excitement for the game. The gaming accessory company HyperX also weighed in to share its excitement for the trailer. It appears that Xbox has taken an edge for now by teasing its many exclusives as the console wars continue to heat up.

The race will likely continue to heat up as the holiday season grows closer and more details on future games begin to appear. Overall, Crossfire X served as an excellent finale to the Xbox Games Showcase before Fable’s triumphant encore. Crossfire X is coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox One in 2020.
