BioWare releases reveal trailer and early gameplay footage for Dragon Age: The Veilguard

During the recent Xbox Games Showcase event, the next Dragon Age game made an appearance and was reintroduced as Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The reveal was also accompanied by a trailer featuring Varric Tethras, a reoccurring character loved by many fans.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard was originally announced back in 2022, but it was under the name of Dreadwolf. Fans who have played the Trespasser DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition would speculate that Solas would have a role to play in the new game. However, the game was renamed as The Veilguard as the developers say that the main protagonist and their new companions are the heart of the new experience.

On 9th June 2024, BioWare released a full reveal for the new game and fans all over social media showed their excitement. 2 days later, we saw over 15 minutes of early gameplay footage that featured a new combat system and a refurbishment of the ability wheel menu. Looking at the gameplay video, it looks like Varric will once again be joining the party, and for the first time, Scout Harding.

With Dragon Age: The Veilguard in the wild, the reveal trailer revealed that the game will be released in Fall of 2024. While there is no exact date, fans can expect to see a full reveal of the game in Summer, and hopefully a release date. Before the recent reveal, the last time we saw anything about the new Dragon Age, the developers said the game was still a year away, pushing it back to 2024.

Thanks to the former lead player designer of BioWare, we can guess what platforms the game will be released on. The designer states that the game will be released on PS5, Xbox Series S and X, and on PC.
