From a brand-new game to major DLC and anime surprises, here’s everything you need to know as a Dragon Ball fan.
If you’re a Dragon Ball fan, the big event that just happened must have you buzzing like a bee. And for fans of anime, Hallelujah! The Galactic Patrol arc and the Moro arc are coming back to Dragon Ball Super, and they’re also remaking the Beerus arc.
But if you’re more into the games, things are equally exciting. A brand-new Dragon Ball game has been announced, and while some are calling it Xenoverse 3, it’s actually a whole new project named Age 1000. Keep in mind that’s not the final title, and the game is set to release in 2027. Platforms haven’t been officially confirmed, but you can probably expect it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Bandai Namco revealed that this new game will feature an entirely original Dragon Ball world with brand-new characters designed by Akira Toriyama himself. You’ll even get to see a completely new character debuting in this universe, and more unique characters will be introduced as the story progresses.

The Dragon Ball world just keeps expanding, and the first official updates will drop at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 in the U.S., happening from April 18th to 19th. You can catch the event in person or online via live stream.
The teaser trailer was brief but set a solid tone for what’s coming. Even though some people are comparing it to Xenoverse 3, this doesn’t seem to be the case. You’ve got a new character leading the story, and while Age 1000 has ties to Dragon Ball Online, it looks like the game is going to carve out its own identity.
You can expect all the iconic characters to appear too—a Dragon Ball game would not leave out fan favorites after all. The trailer even showed portraits of classic characters, so they’ll be included for sure. More concrete details will be revealed in April.
Meanwhile, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has also gotten a huge update. A patch just dropped, and new DLC is on the way, along with a detailed roadmap. Today’s patch brings some significant adjustments to game modes.
Ultimate Battle was added to the main menu, and Move Custom Battle is now part of the Ultimate Battle section. Mission 100 introduces a new solo play mode, and within Ultimate Battle versus, there’s now an Ultra difficulty level above Super. Custom Battle and Edit Mode saw the maximum CPU level increased to 21.
The battle system got tweaks too, including adjustments to mechanics, skills, and blasts. And the icing on the cake is that this patch is free. Going forward, a Survival Mode will be added in spring, and the new DLC delivers a lot. It’s described as massive, including new playable characters, costumes, moves, stages, a new mode, and more.
Some of the characters we already know about are Super Android 17, King Piccolo, and Super Saiyan Bardock.
New costumes include a childhood Gohan outfit and other battle customization features that let you unlock new super attacks for Goku and Vegeta. Mission 100, the new single-player mode, allows you to take your favorite characters through a variety of new challenges and missions. It’s simple but fun, offering lots of battles that will bring back memories for those who played Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3. The rollout begins today with Mission 100 available, Survival Mode arrives this spring, and the full DLC drops in the summer. This will add major content and new characters. Sparking Zero is now also available on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. DLC for these versions will be available too.
For fans who followed the hype around Sparking Zero, it lived up to expectations in some ways. The lead-up was massive, and the game delivered exactly what many wanted. Much like the older Tenkaichi games, it’s a fun experience to play with friends. You don’t need a competitive instinct to enjoy it. Multiplayer is there if you want it, but the game shines as a nostalgia-filled experience.

Dragon Ball games tend to get long-term support, as seen with Xenoverse 2 and Kakarot, both of which have received multiple DLC updates. Sparking Zero came out in 2024, and it’s already getting more content, which is exciting for fans.
In short, you’ve got a lot coming up if you’re into Dragon Ball.
Age 1000 is scheduled to bring a new world and characters alive in 2027, Sparking Zero has a free update with Mission 100 and Survival Mode, and the summer DLC is also coming soon. 2026 and 2027 are shaping up to be exciting years for Dragon Ball fans. Keep an eye on updates, trailers, and the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour, because there’s a lot coming your way.
