Dread Hunger is out on PC via Steam to test your survival skills under a deceitful social environment.

With 86% positive user reviews throughout a successful Early Access phase, Dread Hunger, a multiplayer survival is finally released on Steam for PC. The launch was confirmed by Digital Confectioners, publisher of Dread Hunger. In an unforgiving Canadian Arctic, players go on a dangerous journey, Dread Hunger combines survival gameplay in a cold Unreal Engine environment with roleplaying and social deception via voice chat and was created by creative director Alex Quick and his crew, who were previously renowned for Maneater, Killing Floor, and Depth.

Dread Hunger pushes the social deception genre forward by putting players in an 1840s Arctic expedition journey where eight player-controlled Explorers rely on one another for continued existence two of them are Thralls out to derail the mission! Check out the Dread Hunger “A Toast” launch trailer below:

“The team has worked side by side with our community to deliver a thrilling social deduction game with PvP elements that put players in the roles of Arctic explorers on a voyage gone wrong,” said Alex Quick, Creative Director of the Dread Hunger Team. “Dread Hunger is about working together to survive while not knowing whom to trust. It’s a game that can bring out the best in players while offering the most duplicitous options for the two Thralls hidden amongst the crew to exploit. It can be exciting, frustrating, and suspenseful by turns, with the only certainty being that no two voyages will be the same.”

Using integrated voice chat and in-game activities, players can give their characters a more favorable personality. During the gameplay, players can pick the role of a Captain, Navigator, Hunter, Engineer, Royal Marine, or more and be equipped with a unique starting kit and abilities. To survive the Arctic by building fires to stay warm, fend off predators, and hunt for food to stay alive. In doing so, players will be forced to betray their friends even by killing them only to blame others.

Every player in Dread Hunger is responsible for bringing their selected character to life via voice chat whilst accomplishing goals. All six Explorers have to act together to acquire materials to propel the steam-powered sailing ship to its target while battling the terrible weather.

Meanwhile, Thralls scheme to poison meals, slaughter crew members, blast holes in the ship, and use black magic to derail the mission—all while posing as obedient Explorers. Hunger, wolves, cannibal assaults, and other heinous fates abound, as well as any mistaken confidence can rapidly result in getting backstabbed. When food is scarce, fellow crewmates become increasingly appealing.

The Dread Hunger Team created Dread Hunger, which was released by Digital Confectioners. Currently Dread Hunger game is now available on PC Via Steam at 20% off (regularly priced at $29.99 / £23.79 / €24.99). Digital Confectioners is looking into ways to bring it to other platforms too.
