Duskbloods remains officially scheduled for 2026, but its missing release date has sparked growing speculation about a possible delay.
As the end of 2026 approaches, Duskbloods’ future on Nintendo Switch 2 is uncertain. October is approaching, but there’s still no word on when the game will be released. The game is still being promoted as launching in 2026 on Nintendo’s eShop; however, no further details have been given about its release date.
The latest official confirmation comes from FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa. Duskbloods is scheduled to be released in 2026, the organization announced in a financial statement on August 13. It is one of the most awaited games, and Kadokawa has announced it will be released later this year on the Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide.
But that confirmation came before the network test for the game, which was later in August. It appears the test was plagued with server problems, with the first session allegedly being halted because players were unable to connect to the online servers. A following session went considerably better, giving FromSoftware a chance to see how the game will work with more players.
FromSoftware also requested specific input on the experience of participants. That poll adds another layer of uncertainty, as it shows that the developer is still gathering feedback on areas that might need some more polishing before launch. The Duskbloods’ marketing campaign seems to be different from the usual Nintendo method.
Not a big Nintendo Direct presentation devoted to the game, as much of the new material has come through FromSoftware and hands-on previews. This could be a clue FromSoftware has a lot of say in how the game is promoted before it is released. Nintendo usually has a big push and a date for big games in the latter phases and starts advertising well ahead of launch. Duskbloods has not followed that trend yet.
Duskbloods is confirmed for 2026, but no release date has been revealed.
It was unveiled during the Nintendo Switch 2 launch conference and was planned to be out in 2026. Fans saw the game again after the first reveal, but it was not until the next Nintendo Direct in 2026. Still, the new footage was a little on the short side. Instead of going into more details about the mechanisms of the game, Nintendo revealed the next network test.

Some selected members of the media were then invited to FromSoftware’s headquarters in Japan to see the game firsthand, with previews based on their hands-on time and footage given by the developers. This form of promotion is closer to how FromSoftware has often handled its games.
Nintendo is publishing Duskbloods, but it seems the developer is doing the lion’s share of the talking around the product, with Nintendo helping and guiding. FromSoftware director Hidetaka Miyazaki has also allegedly commented on the partnership, confirming that Nintendo offered a lot of value by helping to explain the game and help with the initial lesson experience.
The network test consisted of numerous introductory sections to teach the players the concepts and mechanics of the game. There is precedent for FromSoftware changing a release schedule quite late, as well. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was initially slated for 2025, but FromSoftware said it will be delayed until 2026 to make room for more performance changes.
FromSoftware has delayed games before but kept earlier delivery windows.
History suggests we shouldn’t discount a late Duskbloods delay. No evidence, however, that the game has been pushed to 2027. Part of the initial network test session has helped feed doubt. FromSoftware canceled the first testing session and announced it will be rescheduling the test after players were unable to successfully access the online servers.
The rescheduled session was not as seriously flawed. The next test, supposedly performed considerably better, was conducted around 12 hours later. The online was really good also; however, there were worries regarding the game’s networking on Nintendo Switch 2.
The network test also permitted us to find minor problems. One issue that was pointed out was a small amount of input delay, especially when directly compared to Elden Ring. This difference was thought to be slight but may be noticed by experienced players who pay attention to movement and reaction in combat.
This kind of feedback would be very valuable for a FromSoftware game. So even small modifications can make a huge difference in responsiveness in terms of dodges and assaults. Timing is crucial to its fighting systems. In a post-test poll, FromSoftware said it received a variety of opinions.

FromSoftware might have grounds to wait till 2027 from network test feedback.
If the corporation believes that further changes are required, it may feel that the extra production time is more valuable than pledging to a release date prior to the game's completion. Another important hint is that the most recent Nintendo Direct in September did not feature a confirmed release date. Although officially scheduled for 2026, Duskbloods has yet to confirm a release date.
The first is that FromSoftware and Nintendo have decided to push the game back to early 2027, likely January or February. This would provide the developer time to make technical and gameplay changes following the network test. Another possibility is that Nintendo and FromSoftware are just ready to kick off the game’s big marketing push.
If there is a specific Duskbloods presentation, the game might reveal further gameplay features and announce a release window by the end of the year. If the game is slated for 2026, December appears to be one of the few remaining slots. Based on Nintendo’s past release schedule, the possibilities are December 3 or 10.
But every week that goes along without new information makes a 2026 launch more and more difficult to call. A big Nintendo Direct in October might change things, especially if it includes the big marketing push Duskbloods hasn’t had. Previous insider knowledge leads to a late 2026 release. Earlier this year an insider talked about Nintendo's 2026 lineup and mentioned Duskbloods as a latter half of 2026 release.
December could be the last shot Duskbloods has at a 2026 launch.
Several data that emerged from that previous dispute suggest that December has always been part of the internal release plan. If that information is right, the dearth of marketing could just be Nintendo and FromSoftware waiting to unleash the full campaign until closer to release.
Physical release is another open question. There’s no indication yet of whether Duskbloods will see a typical physical cartridge release. It is being released by Nintendo, so it will probably be a cartridge release, although there have been exceptions with Nintendo-related games developed or published through other agreements.
Examples of game distribution based on a game-key-card strategy in Pokemon. Fans will have to wait for Nintendo to reveal the physical shape of Duskbloods. The network test has made a big impression, despite the uncertainty on its deployment timetable, supposedly. Duskbloods provides PvPvE combat, so players are welcome to focus on fighting monsters, fighting other players, or a combination of both depending on how they wish to play the game.

One of its defining characteristics appears to be its mobility mechanism. There’s also a triple jump and air dash, giving the game a far more mobile feeling than other FromSoftware products and leading to a fighting experience that combines recognizable elements with fast-paced movement.
Duskbloods still seems interesting, controversy about its release date aside.
Duskbloods’ unique formula may be a departure from the developer’s earlier attempts. Ultimately there is no official word on Duskbloods being postponed. The game is slated for a 2026 release, per Kadokawa, although the year is still listed on Nintendo’s eShop.
But the lack of a specific release date, network test failures, a feedback poll, and a heavy marketing effort also raise valid worries about whether that deadline can still be accomplished. If FromSoftware opts to delay the game, then early 2027 might provide extra time to work on the input from the network test and enhance the experience.
If the 2026 plan stays the same, a special Nintendo conference could be the next big step in revealing the exact release date. Duskbloods is still slated for a 2026 release for the Nintendo Switch 2, for now. Whether it arrives in the closing weeks of this year or in 2027 will most likely be determined by FromSoftware’s evaluation of the feedback and work of development.
