Current and former employees of Ubisoft Paris testify against the company for its ignorance of alleged harassment.
Last year, Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed’s developer and publisher, Ubisoft, was accused of misconduct and sexual harassment in their workplace. Employees(Current and former) are giving their testimony against the company that has been harassed morally, sexually, or racistly. A survey also tells us the same thing that 25% of the entire employees had seen or experienced this kind of situation within the studio, and 20% said they were disrespected.
Legal action has been taken against the company by victims via the French union Solidaires Informatique. Numerous employees have been fired for misconduct, including the former director of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but a group says there are still people who are guilty, working in that office. This group letter also stated that the company’s Human Resources department received multiple complaints, still they were not exactly bothered. Ubisoft’s cultural issues were still widely present despite announcements of changes.
In the last two years, victims who experienced discrimination, sexual harassment, or racism have come out to testify against the company. Employees are encouraged to come forward by that group, as there were quite a number of stories that surfaced on social media. The future of this issue is uncertain as the company already has access to an extensive legal team.
Players are already demanding changes and have stopped supporting the company. It’s difficult to say whether this issue will create a difference in the acclaimed developer’s business. But as this has created buzz thus far, Ubisoft’s internal culture will continue to be under a high level of scrutiny.
We feel like there is still a long way to go to improve the company’s culture for its employees.
