This September’s Nintendo Direct continues to impress with its family friendly titles.

As is a yearly tradition for every September now, this Nintendo Direct arrived with some much-needed news for the Switch’s winter and beyond lineup of games to close out 2023 on a high note. Following out on June’s Not-E3 slew of announcements from the other behemoths in the game industry, such as Xbox, Ubisoft, and Capcom, Nintendo came in last, announcing a new Princess Peach game, along with a remaster of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and a remake of Super Mario RPG.

This year has seen the release of some genre-defining titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfield, and Tears of the Kingdom, and yet Nintendo, with the rumors of a Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon, seems not to slow down with its current lineup of upcoming games. Without further ado, here are September 2023’s Nintendo Direct announcements and their release dates:

  • Splatoon 3: Side Order DLC – Spring 2024
  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong – February 16, 2024
  • Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – January 18, 2024
  • Horizon Chase 2 – Today
  • Super Crazy Rhythm Castle – November 24, 2023
  • SpyxAnya: Operation Memories – 2024
  • Super Mario RPG – November 17, 2023
  • Another Code Recollection – January 19, 2024
  • Princess Peach Showtime – March 22, 2023
  • SaGa Emerald Beyond – 2024
  • Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered – February 14, 2024
  • Detective Pikachu – October 6, 2024
  • Trombone Champ – Today
  • BATTLE CRUSH – October 2023
  • Wartales – Today
  • Contra Operation Galuga – Spring 2024
  • Unicorn Overlord – March 8, 2024
  • Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD – Summer 2024
  • Sora from Kingdom Hearts Amiibo – 2024
  • F-Zero 99 – Today
  • Bandle Tale: A League Of Legends Story – 2024
  • Song Of Nunu: A League Of Legends Story – November 1, 2023
  • WarioWare: Move It – November 3, 2023
  • Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes – April 23, 2024
  • Eastward: Octopia DLC – Holiday 2023
  • Wargroove 2 – October 5, 2023
  • Dave The Diver – October 26, 2023
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 6 – Holiday 2023
  • Among Us: The Fungle DLC – October 2023
  • Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door – 2024

As we can see, Mario, as Nintendo’s official mascot, is still going strong, as the last announcement of today’s Nintendo Direct was a remake of the acclaimed GameCube title Paper Mario: A Thousand Year Door, which fans of the series have been clamoring for a return for many years now. It seems like eager Nintendo followers will have to wait even longer, if ever, for a new Nintendogs, Star Fox, or that hopeful remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker and Twilight Princess. But if anything, while Nintendo still holds some heavy hitters close to its chest, it’s keeping its reign as a family favorite for the foreseeable future.
