How rumors of a second DLC have reignited fan hopes for long-overdue Mega Evolutions.
Even though Pokémon Legends: Z-A already gave you a solid batch of new Mega Evolutions, it still feels like the list of Pokémon that deserve one is nowhere near finished. If you are being honest with yourself, you probably feel the same way.
No matter how many new forms get added, it always feels like there are dozens more Pokémon sitting in the background, waiting for their moment. That is exactly why fans are once again having this conversation, especially now that rumors about a possible second DLC are starting to circulate.
When you look at the community right now, there is a lot of excitement mixed with impatience. You have already seen some great new designs, but you cannot help thinking about how many popular and underrated Pokémon are still missing out.

Players have been making videos, sharing fan art, and debating ideas online, all focused on one simple question: which Pokémon should get Mega Evolutions next if another DLC really happens?
A lot of this recent discussion focuses on a massive list of fan-made designs that have been floating around the internet regarding Legends Z-A for a while. Some of them look so polished that, if you did not know better, you would probably think they were official.
One of the most talked-about examples is Mega Charizard Z. Many fans still argue that Charizard does not need yet another form, especially after already getting two Mega Evolutions. But at the same time, some of these new designs look so unique that they make you rethink that opinion. Instead of copying older ideas, some versions lean into older, almost medieval-looking styles that make Charizard feel fresh again.
Then there is Luxray, a Pokémon that many players have loved since the Sinnoh era. For years, fans have felt that Luxray deserved more attention, and a Mega Evolution seems like the perfect way to give it that spotlight.
Some concepts even imagine it as a Dark-type Mega, which fits its aggressive look and color scheme surprisingly well. If you have always had Luxray on your team, it is hard not to feel a little frustrated that this has never happened officially.
Mienshao is another example that often gets overlooked. Many players forget it even exists, which makes it a perfect candidate for a Mega Evolution. Some fan designs turn it into something that looks fast, stylish, and powerful, making you think it could finally stand out in competitive play. While the typing choices are still debated, ideas like adding Psychic types have gained widespread support.
One of the wildest designs that keeps coming up is Mega Mimikyu. Instead of hiding behind its costume, this version shows you what Mimikyu really looks like underneath. It has massive arms, a creepy posture, and an overall intimidating presence.
For fans who have always been curious about Mimikyu’s true form, this idea feels like something straight out of a dream. It is unsettling, but in a good way.
People can’t stop talking about Mega Yanmega either. Some designs make it look like a helicopter, which sounds strange at first but somehow works. Mega Evolutions are supposed to be strange, one-of-a-kind, and easy to remember. Players have also said that a Dragon-Bug typing would be something completely new, which would make Yanmega more interesting.
The classic Hitmon trio also gets plenty of attention. Hitmontop, Hitmonchan, and Hitmonlee all receive their own Mega concepts, each leaning into what makes them special. Hitmontop focuses more on spinning and movement, Hitmonchan gets massive boxing gloves, and Hitmonlee becomes even more flexible and aggressive. Together, they feel like a dynamic duo.

Then there is Kingambit, a Pokémon that already looks intimidating in its normal form. Some Mega designs turn it into a Fire-type powerhouse, with flames coming off its sword and armor. It looks like something straight out of a fantasy anime, and honestly, it is hard not to be impressed. Even players who do not usually care about Kingambit admit that this version looks incredible.
Mega Zoroark is another fan favorite.
By adding Electric typing and giving it a sharper and more dangerous look, these designs turn it into something that feels unpredictable and terrifying. You can easily imagine seeing it in battle and immediately feeling nervous. It is the kind of Mega Evolution that makes you want to use it just because it looks so cool.
When the conversation shifts to Generation 5, things get even more emotional. Many fans believe that Unova Pokémon have been ignored for too long. Druddigon is often mentioned as one that should have received a Mega by now.
Some designs make it look more like a classic medieval dragon, which fits perfectly with the Legends-style setting. Breloom also gets attention, especially with concepts that turn it into a Fighting-Poison type, leaning into its mushroom theme.
Another interesting case is Heracross. Some fans think it never reached its full potential, even though it already has a Mega Evolution. The new “Z-style” Mega concepts have a different color scheme and posture that make them look more like real bugs than human fighters.
Gogoat is one of the biggest missed opportunities, according to many players. In earlier Pokémon games, you could ride it, and some early builds of Legends Z-A even hinted at something similar.
A Mega Gogoat in a grassy DLC area feels like a perfect match. Fans still cannot believe it was left out, given how many Skiddo and Gogoat were roaming around. Finally, the discussion always circles back to the Unova starters: Samurott, Serperior, and Emboar. Emboar reportedly already has a Mega form in some concepts, which makes it even stranger that the other two do not.
Many fans feel that all three starters deserve equal treatment. Some of the fake Mega designs for Samurott and Serperior look so professional that you would easily mistake them for official artwork. For players who grew up with Generation 5, this feels like unfinished business.

What makes all of this even more interesting is how believable these ideas are. None of them feels impossible. They fit within Pokémon’s design philosophy, they respect the original creatures, and they add something new.
We are still holding out hope for a second DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, even though rumors persist. You can picture opening a new expansion and suddenly seeing some of these Mega Evolutions for the first time ever and not looking back.
Finally, Luxray is getting its chance. Mimikyu is showing its real form. The Unova starters are standing together with cool new designs. It would feel like Pokémon finally listened to what fans have been saying for years.
