The new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI is titled ‘Ambition’ and contains a lot of information about characters, factions and plots in the world of Valisthea.
The newest trailer for Final Fantasy XVI is almost the polar opposite of the trailer that was dropped at the State of Play earlier this year. Unlike that trailer, which highlighted the combat that will be featured in the newest iteration of this beloved series, this newest trailer (titled ‘Ambition’) shows a far more restrained and character-focused theme, which Square Enix no doubt wished.
The trailer begins with a view of Clive Rosefield, a character. We hear vast amounts of information regarding the world of Valisthea and the rich lore that has populated many Final Fantasy titles. The most important and interesting aspect of the title is what can only be described as the ‘factions’ that seem to populate the game world.
The Grand Duchy of Rosaria, the Holy Empire of Sanbreque, the Dhalmekian Republic, the Iron Kingdom, the Kingdom of Waloed, and the Crystalline Dominion are all factions that are within this world, all with their own vast and interesting cast of characters.

The political intrigue seems to be high in this newest Final Fantasy title, not to mention the barrage of giant creatures, If the trailer is anything to go off, this game is going to be insane.
Final Fantasy XVI comes to PlayStation 5 in the summer of 2023, with talks of a PC release potentially following.
