The end of an era has come as Ghost of Tsushima will receive no more ‘active updates’.

Following the release of patch 2.18 Suckerpunch Productions have expressed that they will no longer actively update Ghost of Tsushima. Following the patches release on April 12th, fans were distraught at the news that the game with so much continued support will finally be halted.

The official Sucker Punch twitter stated this:

In the coming days, we'll release Patch 2.18 for #GhostOfTsushima. This patch changes several Legends items, fixes a bug that prevented some players from earning Hidden Heart, adds save imports to Legends standalone, and more.

Within the detailed Patch notes we find more information regarding Sucker Punch ending the games active updates. This was taken from the end of the patch notes: “While we aren’t actively working on any additional patches at the moment, we will continue to monitor feedback on the community-run Gotlegends subreddit and messages sent to @SuckerPunchProd on Twitter for any high priority bugs or issues that emerge.”

They went on to state: “We want to say a huge THANK YOU to the entire community for the incredible amount of support and feedback we’ve gotten since launch. When Legends launched in October 2020, we never expected to have such an active community more than a year and a half later, and we could not be more thankful to everyone who has been with us on this journey!”

This news is bittersweet as it obviously portrays that one of 2020’s most successful titles has finally been left to it’s own devices, but it also shows that the devs are still keeping their ear to the ground regarding bugs and issues. Many fans of Ghost of Tsushima took to twitter to express their dismay with certain bugs still present within the game such as animation glitches that have been present since the games release.

Whether Suckerpunch see these glitches as a high priority is yet to be determined following their recent announcement. It is somewhat tragic seeing Ghost of Tsushima’s support dwindle. Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best games on the current generation that released in an already tumultuous year. Many fans will recall their fond memories of Ghost of Tsushima and should be ecstatic as the devs look onwards to whatever their next project may be.
