Grand Theft Auto 6 development is “Well under way”
GTA 6 is the next game to come out from the famous developer Rockstar Games and their parent company, Take-Two Interactive. The game has been theorized about for years, particularly following the release of Red Dead Redemption II, as it undoubtedly meant a shift in the company’s focus to the next GTA title.
On August 8th, there was an earnings call in which the CEO of Rockstar Games, Strauss Zelnick, outlined that Grand Theft Auto 6 will set a precedent. Zelnick stated that: “With development of the next entry in the GTA series well underway, the Rockstar Games team is determined to once again set creative benchmarks for the series, our industry, and for all entertainment, just as the label has done with every one of their frontline releases.”
While there is no release date for the sixth installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, there has been some word from Rockstar Games regarding the title. Back in February, the developer explained that Grand Theft Auto 6 was in “Active development,” a fact that was encouraged by some 200 positions opening up at the company, which suggested a focus on the next entry in one of gaming’s most popular franchises.
A report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier also revealed possible details of the next GTA title and how it may contain a female protagonist and possibly be set in Grand Theft Auto’s version of Miami, Vice City.
Overall, the comments stated by Zelnick are encouraging to say the least, particularly following the departure of Dan Hauser, one of the major creatives behind the Rockstar brand. Now, when it comes to it, GTA 6 is most likely still a way away. However, GTA fans from across the world will be patiently awaiting the announcement of Grand Theft Auto 6, which is sure to be one of the most popular games upon its release.
