From a massive map and hundreds of enterable buildings to deeper character mechanics and seamless dual-protagonist gameplay, the latest wave of Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks offers the most detailed look yet.
Grand Theft Auto 6 continues to be the most anticipated game in the industry, and while Rockstar has remained tight-lipped by limiting gameplay footage to cinematic trailer shots, that hasn't stopped new details from surfacing.
A growing collection of leaks, insider reports, and fan recreations has started to form a much clearer picture of what you could expect when the game finally launches. Until Rockstar releases more official gameplay, these details have become the closest look at the next chapter in the series.
Much of the recent attention comes from creators recreating GTA 6 using the small amount of official material that Rockstar has released.
These projects try to recreate the environments and mechanics of the game using the trailers, leaks, and modern development tools (like Blender and Unreal Engine). None of these recreations are official, but they do seem to be in line with the visual direction and vibe that Rockstar seems to be going for.

The open-world size of GTA 6 remains one of the biggest talking points. Multiple leaks are suggesting that Leonida will be Rockstar’s biggest map to date, even bigger than Red Dead Redemption 2. Vice City is rumored to be the largest city ever created by the studio, with leaked map comparisons showing that it could easily overshadow the map from Grand Theft Auto V.
Other locations are also expected to play important roles throughout the adventure. Ambrosia and Port Gellhorn are both rumored to be sizeable regions, although they are said to be much smaller than Vice City itself. Another leaked point of interest is a heavily fortified facility similar to Fort Knox that reportedly stores large amounts of gold.
Reports claim there will be more than 700 enterable shops spread throughout Leonida, giving you far more places to explore than in any previous Grand Theft Auto title. Rockstar's upgraded RAGE engine is also said to eliminate nearly all loading screens between interiors and exteriors on PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series consoles.
Horizontal exploration could be just as important as vertical exploration. Shopping malls, office buildings, and skyscrapers are expected to have accessible interiors, and elevators could allow you to move naturally between multiple floors. These interiors are said to double as mission locations and optional areas to explore, bringing life to the city.
The dual-protagonist system is also expected to evolve well beyond what Grand Theft Auto V introduced.
During many story missions, you will reportedly be able to switch freely between Jason and Lucia while both characters remain active in the same mission. Rather than separating the characters across different objectives, GTA 6 appears to let them work together as a team. This could make story missions feel much more dynamic than before.
Combat is also rumored to benefit from this new system. You can probably instantly swap between Jason and Lucia during firefights, allowing one character to revive the other, distract enemies, or keep fighting from a better position.

Leaks suggest the transitions are smooth and don’t interrupt gameplay.
The character wheel will also presumably include three modes to switch between, allowing you to control Jason alone, Lucia alone, or both protagonists at the same time, depending on what the situation calls for. This would provide you greater flexibility during missions and free roam, making it easier to approach objectives from different perspectives.
The story itself is reportedly five chapters long and focuses on the Bonnie and Clyde-style partnership of Jason and Lucia. Rockstar has said little about the story, but leaks suggest your choices may affect how their relationship develops in the game. There are even claims of multiple possible endings, including a character’s sacrifice, being brought to justice, or a tragic fate.
Classic gameplay systems also appear to be making a return. One rumor claims the six-star wanted level is back after disappearing from more recent entries in the series. If that happens, military vehicles, tanks, and combat helicopters could once again pursue you when you reach the highest wanted level.
Character progression may become much deeper as well.
Leaks indicate that GTA 6 will reintroduce weight gain and fitness mechanics inspired by Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas while expanding on ideas introduced in Red Dead Redemption 2. Things like eating food, working out, and lifting weights can all directly affect how your character looks.
Some of these mechanics have already been shown off in trailer footage. Jason has been spotted going into convenience stores and gas stations to buy food and drinks, and many believe these actions could mean eating will become an actual gameplay system, not just a visual detail. If so, core elements of survival could take on much greater significance in everyday exploration.
Since Lucia reportedly pulls Jason back into a life of crime after her release from prison, tension between the two characters could become an important part of the narrative. Supporting one another during missions or making certain story decisions may strengthen or weaken that bond, ultimately affecting the choices available near the ending.

Weapon management is also expected to become more realistic. Rather than carrying an entire arsenal at all times, you will reportedly have a limited number of weapons on your character. Additional firearms can supposedly be stored inside your vehicle's trunk and selected before major encounters.
Each protagonist is also said to have some special ability in battle.
Jason apparently gets a Dead Eye-style mechanic that slows down time and highlights enemy weak points, making it easier to line up precise shots. Lucia’s version appears to be more limited, letting her quickly tag and eliminate one enemy before going into a cooldown. These differences could make you want to fight differently when playing as each character.
Exploration below the surface is expected to yield far more reward. Leonida's coastal waters, rivers, and swamps reportedly hide underwater treasures, secrets, and hidden locations waiting to be discovered. While Grand Theft Auto V included underwater exploration, players only used it sparingly throughout the game.
NPC interactions also appear to be receiving a significant overhaul. You’ll be able to, allegedly, say hi or be a jerk to civilians, and characters will react differently depending on how you treat them. NPCs may become nervous if you're openly carrying a weapon, while Jason and Lucia are said to automatically conceal firearms when walking through public areas.
The consequences for your actions may also become much more noticeable.
Going into people's homes without permission may cause them to call the police, giving realistic responses to criminal behavior. If officers fail to catch you, some incidents may even spread across the game's fictional social media platforms. These systems appear designed to make the world react more convincingly to everything you do.

Driving is another area where Rockstar is reportedly making major improvements. Initial details on the handling model suggest it blends the more weighty vehicle physics of Grand Theft Auto IV with the more fluid controls introduced in Grand Theft Auto V. The aim seems to be to make cars feel realistic, but without losing the fun of playing.
The ingame economy could also promote more meaningful exploration and crime. Leaks suggest pawn shops or underground black-market dealers will allow you to sell stolen goods collected throughout the world. Breaking into homes, searching abandoned vehicles, and stealing valuable items could become worthwhile ways to earn money.
Although Rockstar has confirmed very little beyond its trailers, the growing number of leaks points toward the studio's most ambitious project yet. A larger world, deeper character systems, improved AI, expanded interiors, and more interactive gameplay all suggest GTA 6 aims to push the series much further than before.
