Neil Druckmann Confirms More The Last of Us Stories and Intergalactic Reveal in 2027

Neil Druckmann confirms more Last of Us stories are coming, while Naughty Dog prepares a major Intergalactic reveal in 2027.

Naughty Dog has provided a short update on the progress of two of its biggest projects, with Neil Druckmann stating that further stories set in the Last of Us universe are on the way. The update also gives fans a better idea of when to expect more Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Neil Druckmann also shared his thoughts on the future of The Last of Us in a blog post from Naughty Dog, saying that further stories are in the pipeline. It also mentions more projects in the works to expand the game’ canon beyond the events of The Last of Us Parts I and II.

Fans, don't expect to see any of these projects unveiled anytime soon. The projects are still in early phases of production, so it may be a few years before Naughty Dog is ready to provide any big details about them, Neil Druckmann said. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is the studio’s most urgent forthcoming project, although Naughty Dog is also staying tight-lipped on that game for now.

The business said that no fresh information will be provided regarding Intergalactic for the remainder of 2026. That will change in 2027, though, as Naughty Dog plans to completely unveil Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, according to the update. The company has also shared another glimpse of the game as an ultra-wide screenshot, albeit the full presentation is still planned at another time.

Naughty Dog’s next big space reveal is scheduled for 2027.

The timing of the reveal could suggest that Naughty Dog is waiting until Intergalactic is a lot closer to release before disclosing more. A release timeline is yet to be confirmed by Naughty Dog, although the game might get a huge demonstration early 2027 before coming later the same year.

Also, there is speculation that Intergalactic could become a cross-generation release one day. If Sony is planning a holiday 2027 launch for the PS6 as part of its next-gen ambitions, Intergalactic might arrive during a transition between console generations. But Naughty Dog hasn't disclosed any PS6 versions or cross-generation plans.

As of now, the confirmed knowledge is that The Last of Us has further stories in the works, while Intergalactic will stay largely quiet until 2027. Details will have to wait a little longer for the year ahead, but it might eventually offer a far closer look at Naughty Dog’s next big sci-fi adventure.
