This news comes after years of speculation following the release of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild all the way back in 2017.

The new Legend of Zelda title received an official trailer at Nintendo Direct this year. Link’s next adventure has been officially titled as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in a trailer that was released alongside it. People have been speculating and praying about whether and/or when the next Zelda title in the vein of Breath of the Wild would be coming, particularly following the commercial and critical acclaim that the game received.

See the full official reveal trailer below:

The trailer began with slow panning shots over murals and strange designs, which originally feinted me into the belief that this would simply be a teaser trailer with little to no gameplay. However, I was sorely mistaken as we quickly emerged to see a grimier Link traipsing across an environment before leaping from a floating island.

The trailer then shows various aspects of gameplay, mostly to do with traversal, as we see Link climb and leap in that classic Breath of the Wild fashion. The trailer ends with Link epically landing on what can only be described as a form of glider before the trailer ends. But not before we see the most crucial detail. The release date is none other than the 12th May 2023.

In the grand context of it all, compared to the many games that were announced and shown off years before, this news should come as a happy surprise as the next iteration on The Legend of Zelda is 8 months away. Are you excited for the next Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Do you think it could surpass Breath of the Wild? Comment down below what you think.
