Capcom’s next horror hit could be bringing back everyone’s favorite rookie cop turned legend, Leon Kennedy.
Capcom is cooking up something big with Resident Evil Requiem, and while the game is still a while away, when you hear the name Leon Kennedy, it’s hard to stay sane. As we creep closer to the Tokyo Game Show, word on the street is that Leon could be making his long overdue comeback; that’s the kind of tea Resident Evil fans live for.
The buzz comes from an RE insider. According to him, Leon might not just cameo but actually serve as the game’s secondary protagonist. Word is he’s rocking a black jacket this time with a more hardened look, rather than the twink we all know and love. Think less baby-faced rookie and more battle-scarred veteran.
Now, before anyone gets too hyped, Capcom has already stated they won’t be sharing fresh Requiem details during their September 24th online program. But plot twist, rumors suggest we could see something drop during a PlayStation State of Play event this week. Nothing’s official yet, but as I said, it’s the man, the myth, the legend, Leon Kennedy, we’re talking about. So fangirls are running wild with their theories.

Leon’s role could totally shake up the story. Long-time RE fans know that whenever Leon shows up, the energy changes. It’s like dropping your main character into a crossover episode; you sign up for chaos guaranteed. The only question is how Leon will connect with Grace Ashcroft, who we’ve already glimpsed in the trailers.
The only hard fact we’ve got is that Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch on February 27, 2026. But if Capcom really decides to drop Leon into the mix, it could flip the hype level to max. Until then, fans are just holding their breath (and refreshing Twitter nonstop) hoping the PlayStation event delivers the goods.
