Marvel’s NYCC 2024 Video Games Showcase

Marvel’s video games are officially featured at the 2024 New York Comic-Con.

Finally, after long anticipation, Marvel is officially showcasing their video games at New York Comic-Con 2024. Comic-Con was a massive deal for gaming in 2023, but since then, Marvel Games has kept a low profile at major events like D23 2024, when they revealed a Fortnite collaboration but otherwise skipped the show, and this year’s convention in California, where they were visibly silent.

This time, though, things are different with Marvel. The New York Comic-Con (NYCC 2024) serves as a platform for Marvel to showcase both forthcoming and existing video games. In addition to revealing a brand-new role-playing game (RPG) called Marvel Mystic Mayhem, which is the most recent Marvel game from NetEase, the company is also planning to release the highly anticipated Marvel Rivals at the beginning of December.

The full lineup of Marvel’s Comic-Con panels will be published in the coming days as well. Only Marvel Snap enthusiasts will be interested in their game presentation on Thursday, but Friday should be the day of the big reveal. Marvel also has a Marvel Games Special Presentation scheduled to begin at 4:45 PM ET and run for 30 minutes, which is about the same duration as the PlayStation State of Play, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Marvel Contest of Champions.

Marvel, NYCC 2024, Marvel Iron Man

Several potential forthcoming Marvel games include Marvel Iron Man, which has been in production for a while, with rumors of playtesting occurring two years ago. According to EA, the game might have a release date of 2025. Black Panther is also in development.

As part of their agreement with Disney, EA also committed to developing a third Marvel game, the details of which they have not yet disclosed. Second, there’s Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. A few months back, they released a story trailer, but now fans are eager to see gameplay, which you can anticipate will be revealed at Comic-Con or the Game Awards.

Arkane Leon’s planned action-adventure game Marvel’s Blade is also worth noting. Since we are rapidly approaching the first anniversary of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the timing of the presentation naturally caused high hopes for the fans.

Actually, it’s going to be the day after tomorrow, on a Sunday—the final day of New York Comic-Con 2024. In my opinion, Insomniac will unveil Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 story DLC, which was leaked earlier this year. It will likely be launched on the same day as the PS5 Pro.

Marvel, NYCC 2024, Marvel's Wolverine

However, the focus of the special presentation is likely to be on something else entirely. Fans have been seeking information on Marvel’s Wolverine since the cyber incident, and if it was tied to Insomniac, they still have that, plus a spin-off game including Venom and Wolverine.

However, I believe Insomniac Games will most likely reveal DLC on its social media platforms. We must take into account, however, that this might very well be a world premiere; if so, Marvel could formally unveil a game that, according to rumors, would be their most daring undertaking to date.
