NetherRealm Konfirms that Mortal Kombat 1 is koming this September.

No, this isn’t a joke. And yes, you have read that correctly. Mortal Kombat will arrive in the form of a reboot. It gets even better when you don’t have to wait very long for it. Mortal Kombat 1 will arrive on September 19, 2023, and it cannot come fast enough. It was announced just a few hours ago, and it was met will virtually all positive feedback. It’s even one of the most trending topics on Twitter. It’s going nuts right about now.

According to Mortal Kombat’s website, it will take place in a new universe established by Liu Kang after he ascended to godhood in 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11. It will feature a story mode, a refreshing roster, especially the iconic ones, and a brand-new fighting system. It is available on platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Switch, PC and EGC. Also, if you pre-order the game, you’ll get Shang Tsung as a bonus. Albeit, you won’t be able to pre-order the game right now.

Furthermore, Mortal Kombat has a brand-new mouth-watering trailer that’ll blow you away. Mortal Kombat 1’s developer, NetherRealm Studios has taken over the development of Mortal Kombat games since 2011 and are also the creator of the Injustice series. NetherRealm also confirmed some of the fighters that will be in the latest installment.

Confirmed characters:

  • Liu Kang
  • Scorpion
  • Sub-Zero
  • Johnny Cage
  • Mileena
  • Kung Lao
  • Kitana
  • Raiden
  • Shang Tsung (Pre-order bonus)

This is super exciting news and one that may have taken some of you completely by surprise because you were probably waiting for Mortal Kombat 12, right? Well, Mortal Kombat 1 has been announced as the new title instead. This is going to be a great twelve months for fighting games fans. In just over a couple of weeks, Street Fighter 6 comes out, a few months later, Mortal Kombat 1, and then Tekken 8 in 2024. They’ll be eating good.
