According to new data, game developers would much rather make games for PlayStation 5 and PC than for Xbox.
The last few months have been among the most difficult for the Xbox gaming community. The price of their consoles has increased unnecessarily, and so have their Xbox Game Pass memberships. It has reached a point where many dedicated users have cut ties with the company.
Things are clearly not looking good for Xbox, and the community is in desperate need of some good news surrounding the brand. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be happening soon, as the situation for the brand has almost gone nuclear, with new data suggesting that game developers would rather focus on PlayStation 5 and PC projects than any projects with Xbox Series X|S.
This survey is based on the Game Developers Conference’s most recent reports, which have monitored the gaming industry over the last year. At this time, based on this study, PC is the leading platform with 83%, and 80% of those have gone on to say they preferred making games for that platform.
As for PlayStation 5, 47% of developers are developing games for that platform, and Xbox has 40%.

Although the difference is 7%, 40% say they would much rather work on PlayStation 5 projects, while only 20% would prefer or are willing to work on Xbox Series X|S projects. If you actually process this, this is not very surprising. This makes a lot more sense to developers like brand-new indie studios who are currently on a limited budget and cannot optimise and port their games to all platforms.
So, if you, as a developer, were to choose which game to make between the three platforms, which would you choose? Moreover, more people have steered towards PC gaming, and in terms of sales and usage, the PlayStation 5 outperforms the Xbox.
