Get ready to enter a new entry into the world of Pokemon with the new announcement for Gen 9.
Pokémon fans are certainly living well in 2022. Pokémon Legends: Arceus released earlier this month, to overwhelming success, and things appear to only be getting better from there.
In a Pokémon Presents presentation held today on February 27th, quite a few things were announced for the Pokémon series. Updates to both Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends Arceus were announced, as well as new additions to Pokémon Unite and Pokémon Masters EX.
However, the most exciting part of the Pokémon Presents was the announcement for the next Generation, Gen 9. Introduced as Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, the new, as of yet unnamed, region seems to be based on or inspired by Spain, and was shown with some stunning details in the announcement trailer.
In addition, a couple of exciting details can be gleaned from the game’s official website here. First off, we’re given a view of the Gen 9 starters, who are known as Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.

In addition, taking somewhat after Arceus, though in an expanded fashion, we’re informed that Gen 9 will feature an open world, complete with Pokémon roaming all over, both in the wild and in towns and cities.
With a release slotted for ‘Late 2022’, we will have plenty of time to learn far more about this new region and what it entails in the coming months.
