Play2Chill and Toplitz Productions Partner for Aztecs: The Last Sun

Independent Polish studio Play2Chill and German publisher Toplitz Productions have formally announced a publishing agreement for the upcoming city builder, “Aztecs: The Last Sun.” Set to be released on PC later this year, the game aims to combine classic isometric city-building mechanics with modern innovations, allowing players to lead one of history’s most influential civilisations.

In Aztecs: The Last Sun, players take on the role of a ruler tasked with building and expanding the great city-state of Tenochtitlan. Managing resources, overseeing production chains, and fostering religious influence will be key to ensuring the prosperity of the people. The game’s intricate design brings history to life with detailed visuals, allowing players to craft a thriving metropolis while honoring the traditions of the Aztec gods.

Stefan Berger, Head of Business Development and Sales at Toplitz Productions, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “With the resurgence of classic city builders, we are thrilled to work with Play2Chill on Aztecs: The Last Sun. Their ability to merge deep, strategic gameplay with modern accessibility while maintaining historical authenticity makes this project truly special.”

A Civilization’s Legacy in Your Hands. The Aztecs flourished for over three centuries, ruling vast territories and developing a society rich in cultural and spiritual traditions. As a leader in Aztecs: The Last Sun, players must navigate the challenges of growing a city-state situated on an island in the middle of Lake Texcoco. Balancing economic stability, military strength, and religious devotion will be essential to ensuring the city’s survival.

Players will construct vital infrastructure, maintain trade networks, and oversee the daily lives of their citizens. Military expansion and defence will also play a crucial role in this city builder, as external threats loom over the city’s future.

Additionally, religious ceremonies, including human sacrifices, will influence the favour of the gods, which impacts the fate of Tenochtitlan and how the gameplay will go. With its meticulous attention to historical accuracy and deep strategic gameplay, Aztecs: The Last Sun invites players to immerse themselves in the grandeur and challenges of the Aztec Empire. As the city-state grows, will its ruler be remembered in history, or will it succumb to the trials of time? The journey to glory begins later this year on PC.
