PlayStation 5 Slim Has the Same Internals Compared to the Original Version

Smaller exterior, same interior. PlayStation 5 Slim reduces the weight but brings back the exact same performance.

Sony tends to create smaller versions of their consoles all the time. From their first console to the last, later revisions had smaller weights and compact circuits compared to their first counterparts. As it turns out, PlayStation 5 Slim is a tad bit different than what we used to know, thanks to early tear-down reviews uploaded onto YouTube. Most people seem to be surprised at how the internal components are basically the same as the FAT version of PlayStation 5.

Now, this does not entirely mean a bad thing, as the first complaints of people were how massive the PlayStation 5 was, and many were struggling to find a suitable place for the console. Shrinking down the size of the console is a good move; however, using the same internal structure might cause some problems. One that easily comes to mind is the insufficient places to blow the air, as PlayStation 5 gets hot very quickly, just like the previous console in the lineup. Sony is not a company that would try to get things around by making easy solutions, so it is thoroughly planned by Sony.

There are not many differences in terms of internal boards and parts, but how about the exterior? We previously mentioned that it is going to weigh less, and it ended up being true, but with a very small margin. The Digital Slim version of PlayStation 5 weighs 800 grams less, around 2.6kg. For the Disc Player version, it weighs 700 grams and weighs around 3.2kg. When it comes to the stand, the included vertical stand seems to be made from solid materials, but Sony knew people wanted to have a horizontal stand; unfortunately, it’s sold separately.

Unlike what people thought, the disc player happens to be very convenient with its easy installation, though it is easy to install, it comes with its problems. When someone thinks of a disc player, they usually understand that an external part should be easy to plug in and make it work. Sony had different plans and included an internet check for their disc drives. So, even though you find a separate disc drive available, it has to connect to the internet to work.

People who are willing to buy the console have to wait until the 10th of October before making their statements about whether PlayStation 5 Slim is going to be a good alternative to the original version.
