Sony confirms Tokyo Game Show 2025 lineup with Playable Ghost of Yōtei demo.
With the formal announcement of Sony’s intentions for Tokyo Game Show 2025, PlayStation fans can expect a major event. The company said that a playable demo for Sucker Punch Productions’ highly anticipated sequel, Ghost of Yōtei, will be one of the main draws.
Fans attending the gathering will be able to play the game before its release on October 2. This is one of the first chances for everyone to experience Atsu’s story of revenge in real life. The show’s lineup from Sony won’t end there. Along with Ghost of Yōtei, the PlayStation booth will also have Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. This is part of a larger display of new content Sony has stored for the fans.
There will be more at the booth than just demos for visitors. To celebrate PlayStation’s presence at Japan’s biggest game expo, there will be live-streamed events, special developer talks, exhibits, and giveaways. The Tokyo Game Show takes place from September 25 to 28.
Sony is rumored to be hosting its State of Play or PlayStation Showcase in late September, a date hinted at by numerous reports and rumors. Many people were waiting for this news to be announced, but it has now: Sony isn’t holding back at TGS 2025. This is great news for Ghost of Yōtei fans, because the game will be out in just a few days after the event is over.

Going hands-on with the demo could give you a good idea of how Sucker Punch has changed the model since Ghost of Tsushima, which was praised for its combat, exploration, and story depth. To make things even more exciting, Sucker Punch has revealed new information about the wolf friend, which is one of the most interesting parts of Ghost of Yōtei.
Atsu, the main character, won’t be going alone. She’ll meet friends along the way, but fans are most interested in the mysterious wolf they’ve seen a lot in trailers and gameplay videos. The wolf in Ghost of Yōtei is meant to feel alive and important, unlike most AI companions that are just there for a task or two.
Players won’t be able to directly control the animal, but they can change how the wolf plays the game through a bonding system. At the beginning of the story, the wolf only appears occasionally and sometimes steps in to help Atsu fight. People can get closer to wolves, though, by exploring the world, finding wolf dens, and freeing wolves that are locked up.
Don’t think this bond is just for show. It lets you move up in a skill tree just for wolves, where you can spend points to make them more reliable and good at fighting. The wolf will fight by Atsu’s side more often as their bond grows. It will also acquire new skills and become a strong ally, rather than just a passing figure.
The wolf had been shown a lot in gameplay trailers, but the company hadn’t said much about what it was doing until now. Now that we know more about the wolf, it’s clear that it’s not just a novelty—it’s an integral part of the player’s journey, combining story depth with gameplay features.

The only question that still needs to be answered is how much time will be needed to get the most out of the wolf. Does it have a light growth path or a grind-heavy system that’s meant to make you want to explore? The answers might be given to us during the Tokyo Game Show.
Sony will have a strong showing at TGS 2025, with Ghost of Yōtei leading the way and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls giving us another look at PlayStation’s upcoming games. The PlayStation booth will be the center of attention at the gathering, with demos, developer talks, and special events. For many fans, though, the best part will be getting to know the wolf in Ghost of Yōtei and getting a taste of what might be Sucker Punch’s biggest game yet.
