Including balancing, location updates, and other additions, the Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds 8.1 update will big changes to the Sanhok map.

The Sanhok map is one of the most popular maps in the game due to its great balance, middle-range size, and the opportunity for loot. Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds is releasing a remastered Sanhok map for the upcoming season 8 to celebrate selling 70 million units. The jungle location has been converted into an “overgrown abandoned paradise”. A place that offers new challenges for players to enjoy.

PUBG has built every element in the map according to player data and feedback and has incorporated upgrades to the design and art elements. The remastered map will launch with season 8 on July 30 for consoles and July 22 for Steam. It also includes new additions: a new Ranked Season, the Survivor Pass: Payback, customized Confiscated Weapons from the truck that come with pre-installed attachments and new skins, improved Jerry Cans to light enemies on fire, and the Loot Truck which will drop loot when destroyed and damaged.

The Ranked map pool will now feature Vikendi. The newest Survivor Pass will allow players to earn new skins while exploring Sanhok. Remastered Sanhok is packed full of features, including more minor changes like balance tweaks and weather-type updates. The devs said the major focuses for the 8.1 updates are special to the popular map and richly detailed that Sanhok is to many players.

The PUBG website includes a ton of “Before and After” pictures that detail the thought processes behind each location change, like adding more covered bridges to the River for ways to cross the water without diving into it and improved cover during firefights.

Ahead of the late-July launch of 8.1, this new remastered map can be previewed via the PC test server on July 15 and the console test server on July 20. This update is sure to have a big impact on anyone who frequents Sanhok and it’s huge. PUBG is available for Google Stadia, Windows, iOS, Android, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
