A new rating for Red Dead Redemption could be the answer to our remake prayers.
Red Dead Redemption has been a constant of the rumour mill in recent years with dreams of a remake being offered and snatched away from fans in impossibly quick succession. However, in summer of last year it seemed as though the dreams of a Red Dead Redemption Remake were well and truly put to bed when an inside source stated that Rockstar stated that they had chosen “not to proceed with the project” when talk of remastering both the original Red Dead and GTA IV was brought to the table. With recent remakes being immensely popular it does seem that the market is ready to open up for a potential Red Dead Redemption Remake.
On June 15th, however, it appeared that maybe these plans were not as scrapped as we once thought. A new rating was entered to the South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee by Take Two Industries under simply: Red Dead Redemption. This is a completely different entry to that of the original 2010 Red Dead Redemption as well as the Game of the Year edition in 2011.
This fresh rating being added could signify the release of a future remake, or even remaster, coming soon. After the success of Red Dead Redemption 2 there were many that hoped they would have the opportunity to experience the original game in the same high graphical quality as the prequel game. With the ending portion of the game heavily featuring John and the ranch he lives on also adding to these hopes as it meant the components already existed in Rockstars RAGE engine.
The South Korean GRAC has been responsible for many leaks in the past, recently being the ones to accidentally drop the Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 remaster in the same way. I’m sure most fans are hoping beyond hope that this is the good news we have been waiting for in regards to the Red Dead franchise as most have been desperate to replay John’s story in all the glory of the second game.
