Capcom brings back survival horror roots with a chilling hospital setting and a fresh protagonist in 2026’s Resident Evil Requiem.
At Gamescom, Capcom finally let the curtain come down on Resident Evil Requiem by releasing a brand-new trailer and new information about the highly anticipated survival horror game. The game is set to come out on February 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is the next big thing in Capcom’s long-running horror series.
The trailer presents Grace Ashcroft, who works for the FBI and is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, who you may recognize from Resident Evil Outbreak. Thirty years after Raccoon City was destroyed in a terrible fire, Grace finds herself in the middle of a strange death investigation in that city.
Most games in the series have heroes who are ready to fight, but Resident Evil 7: Biohazard director Koshi Nakanishi made it clear that Grace doesn’t know how to fight at the start of her story. This sets the stage for a character-driven survival journey marked by fear, fragility, and learning to adapt—a clear nod to the survival horror roots of the series.
The freshly released footage paints a very scary picture. Grace is seen moving through a gloomy hospital. The dark hallways are filled with creepy shadows, flickering lights, and a never-ending feeling of fear. Fans quickly made comparisons to the creepy settings of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, which showed that Capcom wanted to combine new horror design with the series’ classic tension.

Fans who have been to Raccoon City before will feel both happy and scared when they go back. It’s in the game’s DNA, and connecting the story to Alyssa Ashcroft connects it to the franchise’s bigger story, which is something that longtime fans are already talking about.
There aren’t many details about how the combat works yet, but the fact that the main character has never fought before suggests that survival elements like stealth, managing resources, and psychological stress will be more important than brute force. It’s a direction that could bring back the mood that made Resident Evil famous in its early days.
Now that there is a firm release date for Resident Evil Requiem, people are getting very excited about it. This game is both a return to form and a big step forward for the series. Many fans can’t wait for February 2026 to come around.
