The new Silent Hill feature film is facing some rough reviews, as it seems the franchise has yet to find a great adaptation.
Return to Silent Hill came out this week, and it’s not getting any love from fans or critics. The film gave some people hope, as it seemed to be an actual adaptation of the second game rather than just taking parts they liked and turning them into a movie, as they do with so many other video game adaptations.
The game is no stranger to bad adaptations; the last entry in the film series, Silent Hill: Revelation, is regarded as one of the worst video game movies ever.
The first feature film they made was simply called Silent Hill and was all right, and a lot of people seem to have grown to like it over the last few years.
Well, the new film had the same director as the original, which made people optimistic.

But unfortunately, the film seems to have suffered from not necessarily understanding the material. I’m going to see the film very soon and give a full review, but as of now, the ratings look absolutely terrible.
On Rotten Tomatoes right now, it’s sitting at 17%.
I’m going to bet it won’t do the best at the box office either, especially with the snowstorm coming in for a lot of Americans. Many did not even know it was coming out, and many of the people I told had no idea.
I’m very curious to see how the film will do on streaming, as a lot of people will probably watch it out of curiosity, but its horrible reviews might even deter the most loyal of Silent Hill fans.
