When will GTA 6 Trailer 3 and pre-orders finally drop? Here’s what we can expect.
It’s been three long months since Rockstar dropped the second GTA 6 trailer, and the silence since then has been deafening. For fans eagerly waiting for even the tiniest scrap of new information, the lack of updates has only fueled speculation. We are all waiting for pre-orders and, more importantly, a trailer number three going into late 2025, so what does Rockstar have up their sleeve?
If you take a look at Rockstar’s history, you’d know they tend to play a long game when it comes to marketing. Now, with GTA 6, their most hyped title ever, they have upped the ante a bit more to keep fans hungry for more. Rockstar and GTA community voices have already hinted that things might stay quiet for a little while longer. However, November is not too far away, and as history indicates, that is when Rockstar might finally speak up.
Rockstar’s track record does give this prediction a bit of validity. If we revisit 2013, GTA 5’s third trailer launched on May 1, four months before the game was released that September. RDR 2 followed in its footsteps, with trailer three dropping in May 2018 and the full release landing about five months later in October. Pre-orders were handled a little differently, though.
GTA 5 pre-orders opened in November 2012, well ahead of its planned spring 2013 launch, though the game eventually got delayed to September. RDR 2’s pre-orders started in late June 2018, again a few months before release.

If Rockstar follows a similar roadmap for GTA 6, it lines up with what fans are speculating. The game has already been announced for a May 26, 2025, release date, so if that goes through, Rockstar should begin accelerating the hype from November until January. It’s a window that matches exactly what happened with both GTA 5 and RDR 2.
But Rockstar always does things their way. Even if trailer three and pre-orders don’t land in November or December, history shows they’ll at least drop something to keep excitement alive, or so we hope. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the pattern repeat, taking into account Rockstar’s history.
Another topic being discussed is that GTA 6 could face another delay. Fans haven’t forgotten how Rockstar pushed GTA 5 from spring to fall 2013; additionally, the rumors have only intensified because Rockstar hasn’t dropped anything of note since Trailer 2 dropped.
Interestingly, a former Rockstar developer, Obi Vimage, also has had his say on the discourse. When asked online if GTA 6 might face another delay, Obi shut down the idea. He explained that Rockstar specifically chose May 26 because they’re confident in hitting that target, and any talk of a delay before December is just “clout chasing.” According to him, if a delay were to happen, Rockstar would only make that call about five months before release, similarly to how GTA 5’s pre-launch was.

Obi’s insight is a sigh of relief, given his experience with previous Rockstar projects like GTA 4. It completely doesn’t rule out the possibility of a delay, though, but it does suggest Rockstar is much more secure in their timeline this time around. Fans can cling to this glimmer of hope, even if the situation is uncertain.
You just have to thug it out, it seems, given Rockstar isn’t saying a word, and that’s nothing new. Their silence is calculated, and history suggests the floodgates will open when the timing is just right. We can’t tell if that is November or December, or maybe early 2026, but Rockstar is always fashionably late.
We are on the same page as you. The wait is getting unbearable, but there is nothing you can do except be patient. Until Rockstar themselves decide to open their mouths, it’s all a game of Chinese Whispers, so don’t trust anything you see on the internet.
