Sadako Rising: Dead by Daylight Returns This 8th March

An evil spirit lurks and prepares to spread its curse over Sadako Rising: Dead by Daylight from this 8th March onward.

Sadako Rising, a new chapter influenced by Kji Suzuki’s novel Ringu and the original film, will be released this March. The 23rd chapter of the widely renowned horror game will include a new killer, Sadako, as well as a new survivor, Yoichi Asakawa, the only Ringu series protagonist to have survived Sadako’s vindictive torment.

Sadako, aka The Onry, who possessed supernatural powers and a violent attitude, was abandoned to suffer and die in a pit. Her fierce rage materialized into a haunted videotape, allowing her to come before the viewers, curse them, and leave them to die while their faces were disfigured in fear. The Onry’s wrath is so intense that survivors are cursed to a horrific destiny. Although the flashing light of television has long been a source of comfort, the sheer glimpse of The Onry will send chills down gamers’ spines.

A marine biologist, Yoichi Asakawa, whose childhood had been irrevocably impacted by The Onry’s hatred, is not unknown to Sadako’s wrath. Haunted by tragic flashbacks, his odyssey is yet to be finished. Yoichi was first introduced to audiences as a kid in the original 1998 Ringu film, who seems to be the only protagonist in this series to have survived Sadako’s rage. His return in Dead by Daylight, well over twenty years later, is, therefore, the first opportunity for fans to reunite with his escape and what happened afterward. His journey continues as his quest for answers leads him to The Onry, in a place beyond human comprehension.

The Onry and Yoichi Asakawa reunite. Survivors beware, she will freak you out!

“Ringu introduces psychological horror to our game, which is very different from the slasher style our fans are used to. They can expect Sadako to come with creepy and surprising gameplay mechanics that are not found in other Killers”, shares Dave Richard, Creative Director, Dead by Daylight. “Survivors beware, she will freak you out!”

“I am very honored that this very iconic horror character from Japan will step into the Fog. Sadako, with her long black hair and white dress, is a tragic woman, beautiful and dignified, yet she pulls you into her quiet terror. The Dead by Daylight team did a great job in representing her characteristics in the game. I am convinced that it will be a chapter unlike any other. In addition to the new Killer Sadako, many other items evoke the world of Ringu. I hope that players will be thrilled to see how they fit into the game, whilst they tremble at the sight of them”, shared Reiko Imayasu, Producer, Kadokawa Corporation.

Sadako Rising will be released on March 8th on Steam, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Epic Games Store, Windows Store, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia. Stay tuned with GamesCreed for the latest gaming updates on Sadako Rising: Dead by Daylight.
