Sony Announces Massive June State of Play Featuring Marvel’s Wolverine

Sony confirms a lengthy June State of Play packed with major announcements, gameplay reveals, and a closer Wolverine showcase.

Sony has officially announced a brand-new PlayStation State of Play show, and gamers are already very excited. Sony says the event will have more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay shows from big studios around the world. The showcase is set for Tuesday, June 2. 

What's really interesting about this news is how early Sony announced it. Usually, PlayStation State of Play events are only mentioned a day or two before they happen. This time, though, Sony announced the presentation almost two weeks in advance, something fans rarely see the company do.

The news comes via the official PlayStation Blog, where Sony also revealed that Marvel’s Wolverine, the highly anticipated action-adventure game from Insomniac Games, will be a major focus of the event. The studio is likely to showcase a new gameplay video, provide more details on Logan's brutal combat system, and offer a deeper look at the game's overall direction.

Alongside the showcase reveal, Sony also announced that Marvel's Wolverine will only be available on PlayStation 5 on September 15. This gave fans a firm date for when the game will be available. Wolverine is already shaping up to be one of the biggest upcoming exclusives on the platform for many players. Breaks the rules by announcing the State of Play much earlier than usual.

A lot of guessing has been done online about when the news will come out. Sony usually gives less time for marketing State of Play presentations, showing them only 24 to 48 hours before they start.
