Steam is planning to let players know if the game supports native PlayStation controllers or not.
In recent years, the relationship between PlayStation and PC has grown very close, and some of the fans are not happy about the deals between these two. However, more people welcome the cooperation than those who do not accept these deals. Exclusivity seems to be gone from Sony’s mind to reach more audiences, just like how Microsoft is also employing the same route with Xbox games as well.
As time goes on, more and more PlayStation games are being ported to the PC platform, especially onto Steam, and as a consequence, it draws more people to try these games who could not access those games before.
For authenticity, one could go ahead and buy a PlayStation 4 or a PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller, and we do not blame them for it. In order to let people know whether the game supports a native PlayStation controller, Steam has come up with a plan. Once the planned Steam update in the upcoming October is rolled out, players will now see icons and written texts about the game supporting PlayStation controllers on the game page, and it is certainly going to be a “game changer”.

The reason behind this whole change for the PlayStation update might not be blatant at first. Steam wants to let players know about the game’s native support of these controllers because they are very different than what counts as a norm in the controller market.
Steam did the same change for their controllers as well. The Steam Controller is a uniquely designed piece of machinery that requires its manual and tutorial to get through. Same with PS4 and PS5 DualSense controllers, they have their own, unique ways of giving different immersions, let it be a built-in speaker or haptic feedback on the buttons.
According to Steam, PlayStation controller usage has doubled since 2018; therefore, it is also reasonable for them to push the update as soon as possible. Arriving this October, the update will let users know if the game supports native controller support, letting people search with the controller support tag, showing controller-compatible games on the store page, and more.
