Shift Up has announced that they are already working on Stellar Blade 2.
Stellar Blade was widely known to have been a commercial success. Despite being exclusive to the PS5 at launch, the game sold over one million copies in its first two months and soared to the top of Shift Up’s charts right away.
The developer of the smash hit third-person action game Stellar Blade has announced that development is underway on a sequel. In 2024, Shift Up’s Stellar Blade was a smashing success when it came out for the PlayStation 5. Subsequently, the studio teased that they are already hard at work on a Stellar Blade 2.
Shift Up has revealed that their popular action game will be returning for a second installment. The release year might be 2026. Insider Gaming reports that the studio is hard at work on multiple projects, as stated in a corporate presentation. A “platform expansion” and Stellar Blade 2 are in the works for release in 2027, along with the action game previously revealed as “Project Witches”.
Stellar Blade 2 might potentially be released between 2026 and 2027 and possibly be a PlayStation 6 exclusive during launch. Though plans are subject to change, this demonstrates that the game is indeed being developed as a sequel and is progressing satisfactorily enough to warrant a release in the near future.
Though we don’t have all the details, we may speculate that Stellar Blade’s “platform expansion” may signal a release for the Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Since Sony developed the game, however, details on an Xbox release remain scarce. Stellar Blade encountered some issues before its PC debut, as the game abruptly became unavailable in certain regions.

June 11th is also the release date for the PC edition of Stellar Blade: Complete Edition. This new version of the game adds a boss fight and extra clothing options. Voiceover options will also be available in simplified Chinese and Japanese. The good news is that the update will be available at no cost to everybody who has previously purchased the game.
The success of Stellar Blade makes Shift Up’s desire to create a sequel understandable. Stellar Blade catapulted studio founder Kim Hyung-tae to even greater heights of fame. His net worth has increased to almost $725 million, placing him among the 50 wealthiest South Koreans. We hope that Stellar Blade 2 will follow the original one’s success and be released soon.
