Players will get to enjoy more of Street Fighter 6’s content soon.

Aren’t you getting just a little bored playing Street Fighter 6 with just Ryu and Luke?? This is a very exciting time. You’ve all been asking for it, and finally you’re going to get it. Capcom thoroughly understands that we as fans simply cannot wait for Street Fighter 6, so they have a little something that’ll spice up our weekend. Sit tight, because you’re going to love what we’re about to tell you.

As you may or may not know, Street Fighter 6 initially had two closed betas last year – the first was in October 2022, and the second was in December 2022. The only way you could play was by lottery. Then, just a few weeks ago, Capcom had announced their demo during their Showcase on April 20. After playing the demo, it’s very clear that Street Fighter 6 has taken a huge step in the right direction. But it would’ve been better if Capcom allowed more access to more content and characters.

We are going to get that chance. Capcom has now confirmed via Twitter that all players will get an open beta that consists of the exact experience of those who played the Street Fighter 6 closed beta #2. This means that you will have more characters for your enjoyment with eight fighters to choose from – including Ryu and Luke, and online play. That’s right, you will be able to play online with friends or others worldwide. That includes cross-play.

But there is a catch. Just like the closed betas, you can only enjoy this for a few days. From May 19-21, players will reap the benefits of Closed beta #2. This may seem like a very short time, but try to view it this way – you have a few days to experiment with some of your favourite characters, as well as a few of the new ones. As well as other content such as Battle Hub, that will become available in the beta. Furthermore, Street Fighter’s launch will be a couple of weeks after the release expiration.

Eight playable characters in the open beta:

  • Luke
  • Ryu
  • Jamie
  • Chun-Li
  • Guile
  • Kimberly
  • Juri
  • Ken

Other content available in the open beta includes:

  • Casual and ranked matches
  • Character creation for Battle Hub
  • Battle Hub Matches
  • Daily Challenges
  • Open Tournaments
  • Training Mode
  • Extreme Battles
  • The Game Center
  • DJ Booth

The following stages accessible in the open beta:

  • Carrier Byron Taylor
  • The Macho Ring
  • Genbu Temple
  • Tian Hong Yuan
  • Metro City Downtown
  • Training Room

Now, you’re probably going to want to know when exactly you can play it, right? Not to fret – 12am PT, 3am EST and 8am GMT. Street Fighter 6 will release on June 2, 2023, and will be available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X and S and PC. This will be the first ever Street Fighter instalment on next-gen consoles. If you haven’t already downloaded the demo, simply head over to your platform’s respective store, type ‘Street Fighter 6 demo’ and you’re all set.
