Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League developers seem to be hinting at a major villain making a return.

Rocksteady seems to be putting a lot of effort into building up hype for their upcoming live-service game, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. The developers seem to be hinting at a return of a major story villain from the Batman: Arkham Knight games. The open-world multiplayer game will be set in the same universe as the critically acclaimed series, and will be set after the events of the last Arkhamverse game. This article will include spoilers for the Batman: Arkham Knight games.

Rocksteady, the developers of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League seem to hinting at the return of one of Batman’s most infamous villains, The Joker. As of writing, it is unclear how Rocksteady intends on pulling this off, especially as the Joker fell terminally ill after abusing the Titan formula in Batman: Arkham Asylum. This illness would eventually take his life and all later appearances of the Joker were Batman’s hallucinations.

Since The Joker has been dead for quite some time, the teasing by Rocksteady has left many gamers quite confused. This came after the studio shared an image of the Daily Planet, as it would be appearing in Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. However, it would appear that the area has been given a rather notable Joker themed makeover, though it’s unclear if the Joker will actually appear in the game or would Harley be responsible in some way. We will hopefully be learning more about the Daily Planet in the Studios next Insider episode.

While the Joker coming back from the dead isn’t an impossibility, as the villain has come back multiple times in the DC Comics. If Rocksteady does go through with this… It would most likely backfire tremendously as it would essentially undermine the impact of one of the most important deaths in all of gaming. Another route Rocksteady could go is a copycat or a fanatic fanboy. We will have to wait and see, but the reception has been lukewarm at best.
